Open Carry gun law?

Just saw a report on the news right now. So it's legal to carry a holstered gun in CA so long as it's not loaded? There was a group of people who gathered at some restaurant with holstered handguns and holstered ammo. Do u need a permit to do this, like with the concealed handgun law?

As long as the magazine isn't in the gun, and visible on your person (I think), it is legal.

Was just talking to my grandma about this today (yeah didn't think this would be a topic I'd talk to about with my grandma). Should make life interesting when you see people walking around with guns on their hips.

i still think its stupid though. what good is the protection when you look like a turd to everyone else who look at you. i would feel so uncomfortable having a person with a holstered gun in the same room as me...

I pray they increase the difficulty of owning a gun with this law. Too many dumbass's are going to walk around thinking they're "so cool" and "bad".

believe it or not, this has has been in the books for decades.

in fact, prior to the black panthers marching into the assembly building in sacramento in the late 60s, it was even legal to open carry LOADED.

the politicians freaked and passed a law saying it must be unloaded afterwards.

personally, i dont see a problem with it.

people who fear firearms (hoplophobes) seem to have issues.

after all, if you are a criminal, would be walking around with an exposed UNLOADED firearm?

all the news reports you've been seeing in the past month or so, gives the impression that the world will end if UOC continues...

btw, there is another law called LOCKED CONCEALED UNLOADED where you can carry one in a locked container. i guess for the hoplophobes, this is much better since they dont know you are carrying a firearm.

the law is, as long as the firearm is unloaded and not ready to be fired. for example, a magazine inserted into the mag well is ready to be fired.

an ammo round inserted into the chamber, but without a magazine, is also ready to be fired. and there are certain semi auto handguns that could fire without the magazine.

for revolvers, no rounds in the cylinder at all...

You take that common sense and GTFO of this thread.

You may all now return to the knee-jerk, emotion based fear of this harmless (and amusing) 'movement'.
