They only fell in love with the bugeye because of the POWA. That is one seriously ugly duckling. Other parts of the world, which had been getting WRXs, thought the bugeye was fugly as well (see Clarkson's impression from the Top Gear episode for an example).

It looks to me like a lot of the front end of the concept car came through on the production car. The openings are obviously larger on the concept car, but the general design is clearly similar. The rear end is a whole different ball of wax, but the front ends you posted are pretty similar IMO.

Weird. Seems like they're forcing a car in where it doesn't need to be. Like the BRZ "wagon." If you want a 2 door hatch... build one. Don't try to take a nicely designed 2 door sports car and turn it in to a wagon... NEVER works.
