That's what I've been saying this whole time But I think you're wrong about the superstar part and the advertising part. Giants were quite well known when Barry Bonds was playing. The national audience tuned in to watch history in the making. Now they don't really have a recognizable name.
As for sports advertising, advertising firms and companies don't care what's being published, as long as the number of page views are up and it's not questionable material. Bottom line is they want to maximize what they get for what they spend. It doesn't matter whether it's an east or west thing. Just whatever gets them publicity or makes them money.
