I have never tried software fan control but how reliable is it? As for the 780... I am going for it most likely.. since the last thing on my list is GPU... Intels new CPU's come out in 2-3 weeks so I may as well upgrade those too while im at it.. Does anyone here actually own the Bulldozer? I've heard mixed reviews about it and im wondering for my next build if I should consider AMD ( I havent used them in MANY years).. also heres the picture I promised

it is!
this build is purely a workstation/server. I wont be touching it lol I will just be pushing files to and from... its essentially going to be my media server while the actual desktop mobo is ran to the kitchen if I decide to use it during breakfast. the white panel is actually a light panel
ill post pictures tonight with it on... I decided I would use it to separate the 2 motherboards.

I just canceled my order for a Sager build and I decided to wait since I heard the new intel chips are coming out in 2-3 weeks
I will wait for that... So currently no laptop but my workstation is coming out pretty well.. heres a pic of how my server/workstation combo build is going.

I started pulling together some stuff to put a small car radiator under my house and plumb the water through the walls to 2-3 computers... Then CPU performance started being less and less important and I bagged the idea. Now I just air cool with very quiet fans.
Back when air coolers sucked and were LOUD (60mm delta screamers), water cooling was a big deal. It was also more fun since it was all underground and MacGuyver setups instead of these highly commercial setups now.
Now, I don't do anything that needs CPU except gaming, and surprisingly few games are a problem for my lowly i3-530 @ 4.2 GHz. It kinda became pointless for me to do water, it's even difficult to get excited about upgrading, because it's barely noticeable except in synthetics.

Have been debating on where or not to buy a corsair water cooler and getting an SSD for it but I hardly use my computer anymore.. Use my Alienware laptop more then the desktop

nice desktop setup though. Only reason I am using water cooling for my machine right now is because its powering 2 motherboards and its more efficient for cooling. Depending on what you do with your computer... It may or may not be worth it. Like one person said its nice aestheticly but performance you can easily almost match temperatures with quality fans. I have a friend that owns a SGI Octane 3 I'm not sure if anyone here knows of it but it is fan powered and when ever I go over to his place I feel like his computer is a heater lmao.
