While this should prolly go in the pending "feedback" thread, I'll start spouting here & now.

I personally think Quarry Lakes is/was a good choice. Most of us know the Pros & Cons of all the places we've held the annuals. This is what I know for QL:
* HUGE parking lot in which ALL vehicles--vendors, car show & attendees--can fit together rather than be spread out. Plus, the general public still has plenty of room to park as well.
* covered BBQ/picnic area w/ more than adequate seating (Btw, I only think 1 pavilion is necessary to rent, but it is nice not to have to worry about interfering w/ another group by reserving both.)
* BOTH kid- & dog-friendly
* closer to the actual bay at near sea level = at least 10 degrees cooler than either of the previously-used parks up in the foothills
* food trucks, should we go this route (I vote YES!), can actually make it up the "steep" 6-in. driveway entrance to the place

* while not as central as Alameda or other East Bay locales, it at least approaches somewhat equal driving distances for our brethren in the outer reaches of the Bay Area
The only real con is that it lacks a fun & scenic drive. This is not necessarily a bad thing (see aforementioned food truck benefit). Plus, the caravans themselves are the fun part of getting to the place, not necessarily that a particular park has a great road on the way.
So yes, I'll have to concur w/ Jourdan in that "it's perfect in almost every way."
Finally, I wouldn't say that '08 failed. It seems like people keyed a li'l too much on the fact that it was not Hammy when instead they should have been stoked that we had someone ballsy enuff step up to take lead on organizing the annual meet.
I'd say the event planted the seed for the charitable giving component that's such a MAJOR part of our annual event now. Iirc, members could bring any clothing or non-perishable food item as part of a group donation to local charities.
Imho, Jourdan doesn't get enough credit for stepping up when he had been a member only less than a year when he had started coordinating the event. He took on an enormous undertaking w/ support from a few members who were in the midst of planning major events of their own. Thanks again, bruddah.
tl;dr: Why not Quarry Lakes? It is, in fact, "almost" perfect. Thnx for '08, Jourdan.

Let's be honest. We're way more than that, right? We gotta play to pay.

Was just trying to throw something in.
