Pirelli had to mandate the tires for those races due to the time it takes Pirelli to manufacture the required amount of tires.

 

Does a mandate solve that? I know the teams had to put in their tire orders a couple months ahead of each race.

Hmmmm.....that is worrying.

 

It will bring about interesting strategy for sure. I think we will see more cars setting times on the prime tire in Q2 since that would be the tire they start the race on and could save them a pitstop if they're trying for a 1 stop race.

If they qualify on the option tire, they would need to take 2 stops and run all three compounds during the race.
