Ocean Beach, SF

Well, I need some help. Two weeks from now is a friend's birthday and we're planning on going down to Ocean Beach and having a bonfire with a group of good friends. Problem is... I'm from the east bay (Hayward to be exact) and I kinda need some plain and simple directions to get there cuz most likely, I'll be leading the caravan over there.

I was hoping that the fellow I-Clubbers can help me out and fill me in with some information to make this a successful and great birthday bonfire/night.

What would we need to bring?

What's the easiest way to get there?

Thanks in advance guys. And hey! If you're in the city on Friday, the 30th, feel free to drop by!

Heads up...

With proms going on and school out. Don't be too suprised when you light up that bonfire that park police and SFPD on ATV's come scooting down the beach and throw sand on your warm fire (especially on Fridays and Saturdays).

Bonfires are illegal on Ocean Beach. Just a heads up to make some backup plans.

I know bonfires get stopped all the time, happened to us graduation night last year.

Is there another place to have a bonfire and have less chance of getting hassled? Cuz we're obviously not there to make trouble, just celebrating a friend's birthday with a small get together. So if there's another location you guys think is better, let me know. Thanks

Bonfires are illegal near the middle of the beach close to lincoin, however they don't mess with you if you move south a bit, there is a smaller parking lot and a restroom area near the.....i don't remember if its the water treatment facility or if its the zoo.....or if its the water treatment facility FOR the zoo but over there i never got hassled, I know cuz for grad night we went near the middle and turned around to the restroom area because the place was swarming with cops.
