Of course, its a half baked scheme. Do you expect anything less from our government?

why would they do that? they'd just find the most restrictive state, and tune their vehicles for that...

that way, they could just 'cookie cutter' the ECU tuned emissions for 1, and not worry about the rest.

What do you mean "enforce" it? This is going to be for new cars. This is not retro active. Cars that have already been produce are not affected by this.

Maybe you're a libertarian - fiscally conservative, socially liberal. Here is a short political quiz - it's a bit biased, but still interesting nonetheless.

The auto mfg'ers are almost bankrupt as it is. How does it make any sense to give them a multi billion bail out to then turn around and make more regulations that make it even more difficult to do business? The government (especially california) is just making it harder and harder to do business in the us, and that doesnt mean that businesses are gonna suck it up and pay more, they are just gonna find a more profitable place to do business (ie-not in the us). That's gonna mean less jobs, less tax money, and a even worse economy.

Go obama!

ok. first and foremost, only the AMERICAN automakers (not the japanese, korean or european) are in the crap boat. only the AMERICAN automakers will suffer from these regulations.

so, shut up about it already. dont think that Toyota, Subaru, Honda, Nissan, etc will suffer from this - THEY WONT.

btw kyoung05, yes my results placed me HEAVILY in the libertarian sector. i dont know enough about their ideals (as a whole), so i cant say if its a good or bad thing...

although, i do AGREE with tax increases IF those revenues are used properly and not wasted on drugs, hookers and buyouts.

Now you're denying our government figures the stress relief they deserve after a long day spent squandering our money and ignoring the wants of the majority?!

the end result will be Californians buying cars out of state. This will be horrible for California's economy, which is collapsing as it is. In short, Obama is a moron. He does whatever he thinks sounds good at the time, but doesn't look at long term consequence.

What good is that going to do? They'll till have the register it and take it for emissions in the state they registered it in.
