i get mine at walmart, but some walmarts are different. Some sell the big jug of 3 quarts of 5w40 but not the single quart, while others sell both.

I've been using Castrol Syntec 5w-30 w/ OEM Subaru filter. It's been working great, no burning oil at all for me. I think I went 7k on it, maybe a bit less, but all was well. I may switch to Rotella T6 though. Seems to be a great choice.

Damn 8k between oil changes?

I used m1 5w30 and I burned through that like craaazy in less than 2k miles it was low

Switched to castrol syntec 10w30 and it was better but still burned some off

Royal purple 5w30 was better than both above, didn't burn anything off even up to 5k once

With new motor its been lubri-moly from paul at fw or rotella when I cheap out

Do you guys really wait that long in between changes? I thought 3k was the normal for a turbo car.

Subaru recently (few months ago i think) changed the oil change intervals for the turbo models to 7500 miles.

I still change mine every 3500 miles seeing how "dirty" the oil is even at 3k

Amsoil has worked well for me. I used motul for a while but Amsoil is a lot easier for me to get. I accompany that with an oem filter

Isn't the oil dirty looking because our cars naturally run a bit rich, causing the oil to become looking "dirty"?
