Stupid question here, but does a previous year's copy of TurboTax work for this year or no? Example, using a 2008 version to do 2009 taxes.

nope, you need 2009. that's how they make money.

 

I still use TurboTax and have never run in to problems with it. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative you can always try TaxACT.

One year I'd really like to try to prepare my taxes on both programs and see if there is any type of difference. However, I have been using TurboTax for quite a few years and it's a really easy program to use.
