newb question about stage 2

Though Cobb's stage 2 map is engineered specifically for the catted Cobb Tbe, its fine to flash my ecu to stage 2 with a non-cobb tbe right? it's a catless btw. Oh, and also I have an Injen cai.

What are the best options for me? One person I asked told me I would get better gains from going back to stock intake box. Would I be going lean or rich just because I don't have the intake and exhaust that the map is designed for?

Thanks in Advance,

Kevin

Since you've already got the intake on, I'd say go w/ a dyno/road tune. Unless you need to switch back to your stock map (smog purposes etc), you can yield better numbers with a custom tune.

And yes, you can run a different downpipe/ catback w/ cobb stg 2.

You should be fine with the TBE, but the CAI is not going to work. Just look in the map notes and it says to use the stock intake only.

morn

if you go to the cobb website, and click thru to the page you can download maps on, under most of the OTS (off the shelf) maps have "map notes" pdf's you can download as well. that is where it specifically states to use the stock intake.

CAI's can cause the MAF to read funny, and can lead to lean conditions. with a stage 2, that is a bad combo. some get away with it (probably conservative OTS maps that are rich from the getgo) but you are rolling the dice everytime you push the cars limits.

a protune or the the like custome tuning will take advantage of the CAI in conjuction with the tbe.

hope this helps...

I would like to add that it is ALWAYS a good idea to get a tune. OTS maps vs. tunes are quite a difference.

Especially now that EMS is so cheap (like, 10 years ago you had no option but to spend 3k, or use a ****ty S-AFC).
