(Japanese: Subaru FA engine) The FA was developed from the FB engine, however, efforts to reduce weight while maintaining durability were the main goals of the FA engine. While the FA and FB engine share a common platform, the FA shares very little in dedicated parts with the FB engine, with a different block, head, connecting rods, and pistons. The FA also features direct injection (from Toyota) and Subaru AVCS variable valve timing system. It is used in the Subaru BRZ, and is identified by a Toyota engine family code known as the 4U-GSE, which is installed in the Toyota 86 and the Scion FR-S. A version with direct fuel injection and twin-scroll turbocharger was introduced in 2012 to the Japanese market for the Legacy GT DIT (direct injection turbo) sedan, and the Legacy GT DIT Touring Wagon.

The picture is disgusting.. I will never throw money at Subaru again if their future cars look like Prius/Tc's... Wasnt it written somewhere that they were going to go FMIC instead of TMIC though or is that for '15?
Really don't think it looks much different than the current sedan. The current sedan looks more modern than the gd. I think the GD lovers or people against this model are probably those who liked the rally car look from the gd and they are right it's a cool look. However the new models are definitely more modern looking, and I don't think anyone has a good case for them looking worse. New models have better fitting body panels and look cleaner and more advanced. Also stock the performance increase is hard to argue and thats what the sti is all about, incase you all are forgetting. That being said gd seems equally as good for mods.
I think both groups are ignoring the fact none of the imprezas have had good lines or body shape, by any means. People just make the best of it and make them look relatively cool. Subarus have always been function first, and no time or money for form. For example any subaru person knows the BRZ part designed by toyota was the body work, as subarus are traditionally boxy. Anybody totally judging this car is is a moron as you really can't tell how different it looks from the gr at this point

Could be the camo messing with my eyes but it does look similar but lights are different mirrors, and it actually doesnt look like the wide body kit the GR actually has.. Again the camo could be messing with me.

My point is that every time a thread pops up about the next generation Impreza, everyone's up in arms about how crappy it looks based on their personal preference for the body/chassis that they're driving.
Did you hate on the GDA/GDBs because they were looking like GM products (GM owned 20% of FHI prior to Toyota buying 16%).
Alternatively, the GR is the only Impreza since the GC/GM that I've considered purchasing, FWIW.

Nope on hating on the bugeye when it came out, in fact, I had to defend it from being called a Dodge Neon by everyone else, lol.
Subaru's '05 lineup was the last lineup I liked, with the LGT and the 2.5XT looking great. It just happens that '05 was the same year GM sold most of its shares to Toyota. First the Alfa Romeo designer and then the new vanilla Toyota look of the cars. I understand vanilla sells to the general pubic, but I'm not one for vanilla.
The GR sedan looks plain, I think of a Corolla S whenever I see it. Just like Krinkov posted, the spyshot reminds me of a tC. I hope to god that they're hiding a WRX badge, not an STi badge, on that front grill because the fender flares are gone. Our opinions are definitely different, and we can agree to disagree on the new GRs.
Maybe car designs will be like clothes fashion. It'll come back around, because almost all of my favorite car designs are from the late 90's... hahaha
Maybe that will be the what we know now as the WRX, with the next gen WRX being more of a current STI equivalent (300hp/300tq) and the next gen STI being even more hardcore (say 350hp-370hp?).
sti fender dealio in the front is clearly still there. Also the headlights and front grill are pretty similar shape to the concept car.
