This is good news for us because there are plenty of shops that just don't care.

But in my opinion the pipe test isn't the issue... it's the visual. It shouldn't matter what you have in or on your car as long as it meets the smog level requirements.

IF it was like that more people would probably run cats and have lower emissions. And catted exhausts would probably be cheaper.

I'm curious how they got this passed naive california voters.
Exactly what he said.

I should also add that prices for the 2000 rs's will probably jump up with this since they're the perfect car for the swaps now.

Another thing to note is that you will be able to pass smogs with ridiculous cams now. BC 280s for everyone!

I just don't know how long this is going to last though. This is the same **** they did with the state refs. Pulled funding for state refs, shut em down. People did crazy builds, brought back state ref. Everyone was pissed. lol

They might, but they're already way above KBB/edmunds. But the right car to the right person... could be right.

And yeah... if there's no sniffer... cams will become much more common.

Arizona as well. Which is why my car has AZ plates. Its part of a 3 state system.

Motorcycle smog is coming next. AZ has been smogging bikes down to 1965 for years.

Oh..... and something that is going to make you all really sad.

They will be able to check the ECU for "hacks" Like even the Cobb AP can be found.

So if you think oh sweet. shut codes off.. Errrrrrrrr wrong answer. They already have been testing the new systems to catch that.

how do they know the difference between a dealer clearing a code opposed to aftermarket? and say you have already flashed your car. flashing your car back will still come up in the system. Does this means they will impound your car or make you buy a new ecu?

Samething.... They know what to look for. Enough people have ruined a good thing and now its being stopped.

Sucks... But least here in AZ they are not going that far just yet. California on the other hand is. Since they set the B.S. for everyone else.

they should just make you buy a smog exempt pass. you buy it you can do w.e you want. you dont buy it the car has to meet strict regulations. If the price is set properly it would resulted in a pretty efficient system

Already right now if you flash your car the readyness monitors will be jacked and you will fail. You need 3 out of 4 on to pass.

They check the coding. They were working on this back when I was teaching and went to the state smog improvement meeting.

And all new dealer ecu updates I am sure will have to go thru the BAR. I am surprised it is not already like that.
