Guys worried about usage of V1 and other radar detectors:

Most cops in California are just now recieving info on KA band radars and starting to use them (although chipee have been using them for over 3 years) Also Chipees have started depending on laser (lidar) and it is just another form of seeing how fast you are going, but most don't use it because glass interferes with it, which means they have to have their windows down.

Also pop radars are coming out to where the radar is only on for .5-.75 seconds and it gets how fast you are going, without giving you a chance to slow down, those are still in experimental stages with some PD's.

Radar/Laser jammers are ILLEGAL in California, and it is obvious what cars have them. Say a cop radars a car, the jammer sends back a bunch of messed up electrical fields so the cops radar reads "20 - 189- 60 - 99- 34" and does not give the officer a correct reading which makes them suspect you have a radar jammer and end up pulling you over anyways.

Cheers

Not in this Forum buddy. Not to be harsh or anything, but seriously here...we are all enthusaists and therefore enthusiastic about driving. Stupid and enthusiastic are different things but are often blurred. How many times have I been pulled over in my 1990 Integra going with the flow of traffic? Sure I am speeding, but so is everyone else really. If i had a detector, I would have known to trim my speed accordingly and NOT give the cop a reason to light me up. Just so happens law enforcement targets us for the sins of the everyday driver. I'm sure they themselves are guilty of the same crime of "speeding".

Rush - Thanks on that info. I've seen your posts around here. Very informative and I appreciate your addition to the topic.

On roads like I-5 it is awesome. Pretty much 100% of CHP on I-5 have their Ka band radiating full time. In that case, V1 basically becomes a cop locator with ~1 mile range when you are in open country. I've gotten compliments from people at gas stations. "Dude how did you know that cop was coming? You slowed down just in time."
