It cracks me up about how every time Metallica comes out with a new record, there entire fan base seems to collectively say "this new stuff sux" yet they manage to keep selling out concert venues around the world.

When it came out everybody said the Black Album sucked but now (almost) everyone looks back on it as being a classic.

I've gotta hand it to them for staying at it, if nothing else.

Although I would add that designing equipment for their concert systems keeps my job from getting boring....

I don't get how everybody likes the whole black album. Their music had already turned at that point. It isn't a terrible album, but not anything like the old metallica stuff. Sad But True was decent.

I thought it sounded like something from the Lost Boys 7 soundtrack from some movie studio band.

Thats because the meat & potatoes of their live shows is Black album and earlier. Their Bonaroo set this year was awesome, all old stuff.... even Seek & Destroy.

Their current album sales probably prove this theory.

yay, Lars turned on his snare drum... but yes, his drumming has been "stock" since the Black album and he's only gotten worse with each album since.

Hetfield's voice has been way too southern twangy since Load.

...at least they're better than Megadeth...

zomg metallica is on myspace?

oh, and that is not Metallica, its a bunch of pussies using the same name. Call it what you want, but THAT is not Metallica. Although some of the guitar does sound better than on the St. Anger album. It may be worth the time to pirate it.

Yeah, that drove me nuts on the last album. Sounded like someone hammering pots and pans.

Honestly, the intro I could have done without, and Lars needs to be replaced or needs to sit in the corner for a while until he can stop riding the snare combined with a mess of cymbals(just shy of 5 minutes into the song all the way through to nearly the end of the song). It also sounds like he's recycling some drum parts from older songs (which I noticed on the St. Anger album too).

I dunno, I may or may not illegally pirate the album. If I don't like it I'll delete it, if I like it I'll debate paying for it. However since its metallica they'll probably charge like $20 on iTunes because OMGITZNEWMETALLICA!! I never judge how the album will be based on on song, especially when they leak it at that low of quality. I would rate this song on par with the entire St. Anger album and pray that the new producer will breathe life into whatever may be left after Bob Rock ****ed everything up.
