Hello everyone, I'm new to i-club and just purchased a 2006 STI!
I'm not new to performance cars and tooling around on them, but am relatively new to subies. I previously owned a 1992 Nissan 300zx Twin Turbo that I am quite proud of. It had roughly 350whp on stock turbos and handled as if it were on rails! Anyways, I needed something a bit more practical but didn't want to give up too much performance so I chose to get a STI because my very good friend has owned two wrxs (bugeye and now an 08) and I have always loved them. My first impression is boy, these cars are EASY to work on compared to the Z haha but it sure does suck having to re-tune for every single little new part.. Sheesh! Anyways, I'm from the walnut creek area in the north-eastern bay and have been sort of active in the Z community, have gone to quite a few Euro-sundays as well as the pleasanton/dublin in an out meets. Looking forward to meeting some of you guys in the near future.
Now I have to ask a favor, does anyone want to meet up with me who has a tactrix open port cable so I can reflash my ecu with a stage 2 map? I'm not exactly down to spend the money on an AP when I could be putting it towards sway bars. Also, does anyone have a good OTS/base stage 2 map such as xpt that I could have?
Thanks everyone!

Welcome to the club!
Yeah, I've never seen such a tight bay...
Yup, its the sacrifice we gotta give for a highly computer sensitive system.
Are you talking about Cobb's stage 2? You'll need a aftermarket downpipe for that (not sure if you have one or not). Also, I believe you'll need an AP in order to run their stg 2, which includes the map as well.

Yes, I already have a 3" catless downpipe along with a drop in K&N filter and silencer delete.
Thanks!
PS If anyone is selling their tactrix cable I would be willing to purchase it as well.

Actually, the tactrix open port cable is a solution I only learned about after surfing the various subaru forums! It is used mostly by Mitsu's and subbie's I gather, and has been popular among EVO drivers for many years. It is a cable that plugs into the OBDII port just like the cobb AP, then plugs into your laptop, allowing you to reflash your ecu using a program on your laptop. It's a heck of a lot cheaper then buying a AP, thus the instant appeal to me haha
I've never heard of the thing, it isn't common language here on the forums, but you should ask around. I'm sure there are plenty of people who aren't on the forums that do a lot of this kind of work. Good luck with it and tell us how the map is =D

Yea I sometimes wish I had gotten the Tactrix cable befoe the AP but I dont like to do my own tuning. There used to be a thread up i the opening page about doing your own tunes with a tactrix cable. I think it would be fun but I leave my tuning in the hands of the PRO's.
I think ED at EQ works with those and can tune with it. You may want to give him a try...
