New to the forums - interested in a WRX/STI

See the point of this daily driver is NOT to mod the car haha. But at the same time, I want a good baseline of power so I'll just leave the car alone and not mod it to get to that power point that I'd want.
All my cars have been "smogged" and I want to get away from all of that.

I still say get the EVO. Drive both and compare, if you still like the STi then get it, but don't do anything until you drive both. (If you haven't already). The new EVO X gen models are a whole hell of a lot different than the old versions.

Agree, the Evo9 SE is my favorite model. Thats the year I bought my car used. I really wanted to buy the 9 after a test drive but damn, way too expensive buying brand new when you can save 10-15k choosing an older model year.

06 is the best year for Evo & STi, just save yourself all the trouble & look for those models only. If you find a good one used, believe me you won't regret it, either will do, you'll thank me later!

It sounds like your new ride will not remain stock for a long time. I don't think you could go wrong with either STI or EVO. But those cars beg to be modified. Well, at least exhuast and good tune. Gas money ever enter into equation for DD? If so, u are looking at the wrong forum. Man keep that rx-7. Too nice to sell.

Most IXs running stock turbo and E85 peak around 365-675wtq so the 6spd isn't a big problem.
