Is this the same HardHitter from ls1gto.com? If so welcome, I'm S.F. Goat on there.

You'll love an STi, completely different animal than the GTO, but tons of fun, with a huge aftermarket.

Yea, the same HardHitter from the GTO forums

I sort of miss my 05 GTO but I think the STi will be more practical...hopefully.

Never knew it'd be this hard to find an STI. Does no one sell them or something?

Be patient and title search Craigslist every day, thats what I did in 2007 when I picked up my 04. I seriously searched online every day for 2 months until I found the right one. I bet there some nice 04/05 STi's out there, just gotta wait until the right seller comes along.

As far as smog goes, once you find one, get a quiet catback and custom tune. It'll pass smog, drive so much better over stock and be lots of fun.

What this man said! I've tossed the idea around of selling mine (only has 62k miles and decent kbb value) but I know I would regret it

Practical? I guess that's relative. Practical in the sense of will it get from point A to point B reliably and quickly? Yes. Practical in the sense of daily driver comfort, fuel efficiency and overall cost of ownership (insurance/maintenance)? I'd say no. I love my STi but it's definitely more of a toy than a daily driver. But from your previous cars I'm sure you'd be fine

Practical as in 2door rwd v8 vs 4 door awd 4 cylinder I'm guessing haha

haha, true - although a wrx would be much more practical than the STi. If you're not going to abuse it, wrx would be a better choice as far as fun factor and cost of ownership.

I'm throwing around the idea of a Mazdaspeed6 but it doesn't seem like there are many available like the STI. All in all though I think the STI would be a lot more fun to drive than the Mazdaspeed6.

WRX vs STI? I don't know, I know the 2.0 WRX would be more "practical" but I would hate to buy a WRX and then end up regretting not getting the STI and being bored with the WRX.

Coming from cars with less power than my wrx I've been more than satisfied..I had stock motor for the first 2.5 years I had my car, just suspension mods and just finally went stg1 because I rebuilt the motor and got an accessport for cheap...just drive a few and see what you like...a stg2 wrx makes about the same power as a stock sti
