Need suspension advice

Hey guys,

Finally got a decent set of tires on my car and celebrated by going for a nice drive up a windy road..

Long story short, i cant get the stock suspension off fast enough.. i've flown aircraft that lean less.

So, im looking for the opposite end of the spectrum. I like my ride just like my drinks.. stiff.

Barring out coilovers (which im already looking at), are there any decent shock/spring setups that will keep my car flat in the twisties?

Its an 06 Wagon, i have strut-tower braces already.

Dspecs and rce yellows for a spring/strut combo.

Pricing on that combo looks like its roughly $1200, which isn't far from a decent set of coilovers.. any particular advantage of this setup?

What are your existing mods? If lateral body roll is the thing primarily pissing you off try larger diameter sways first before springing for a full aftermarket suspension setup.

Besides strut-tower braces, nothing. I know my shocks are going, and I want a lower ride anyway, so at least in my eyes, new suspension is the logical path.

Im not against stronger sway-bars, thats something I was also looking into.

Careful how low you take a Subaru -- handling doesn't respond well to more than a little. Take your point though: coils if you want to adjust it. Tein S-techs if you want it to look cool, handle terribly and blow your struts in 500 miles

RCE springs or Swift springs are pretty good. I'd recommend going with the koni yellow shocks.

Get a rear sway bar first. Best bang for buck suspension mod for a WRX. Depending on how much you want to spend, a set of springs (Swifts/RCE Blacks) and/or Koni Yellow shocks if you have the extra cash. Just my .02 though.

Ill definitely look into sway bars. Ive had a good experience with whiteline before, so ill probably pick up a set.

Anybody have info on the tein basic coilovers? Ive seen mixxed feelings on tein products before, but it looks like a pretty decent setup for the price..

I should add that im definitely a function over form type of guy, so I have no intention of "stancing" or "slamming" the car, but I wouldnt mind a 1-2" drop

+1 for konis. I love mine so far. Maybe look into ground control sleeves if you have the $$$$

I'd also recommend Koni Yellows + RCE or Swift springs.

Konis are one of the better street shocks and they have a lifetime warranty. If they ever blow, they'll send you new ones for free. Swift & RCE both have great reputations for being paired with our cars. Or, if you want ride height adjustability, look into getting Ground Control coil sleeves where you can get any spring rate you want for no extra $.

Longevity and reliability vs a 1200 dollar set of coilovers. Can do koni yellows and rce's too as mentioned above.

A 1200 coil isnt going to perform as well as the dspecs and rce yellows.

The konis often blow out when pushed too hard where as people are using the dspecs for rallyx along with daily driving.

Hard to find atm but I heard they are coming back.

Tic used to push them and swear by them over the konis then when the dspecs were sold out everywhere their opiniom changed to konis being the best.

iirc the konis cost more offsale than the dspecs did......

Miss my dspecs but going to the hvt coilover which are supposed to "ride like dspecs and yellows" according to tony from tic.....

Fixed
RCE Blacks/Yellows are a great choice. Not sure how the availability is on D-specs is at this point, but they are nice shocks for the money.

In general - I trust TIC with suspension. They've always done me right.
I would highly suggest their Fender braces. What you interpret as spring rate issues could very well be chassis flex.
