Need some advice

So.. I'm selling my WRX. I get an email today and I call the guy.

He works for Steven's Creek Mitsubishi and wants me to drive the car down there and he'd write me a check.

I was a bit busy so I didn't discuss the particulars. We didn't talk about price. I'm a bit worried about them seriously low balling me when I get there, but I'm going to give him a call back tomorrow and see if I can't get that hammered out.

The main thing I'm concerned about is the check. If its a check from the dealership should I not worry about it hand them over the title and just go to my bank and deposit it?

I guess my main question is has any heard about dealerships calling people up to buy their cars? I think he mentioned something about a client wanting the car.

salesman are a different breed of people. You will most likely be disappointed and be telling him to STFU as you try and walk away from their lines of BS. lol

Dealers calling people is nothing new. I knew a dealer in SoCal that would call almost every classified ad in the paper. Got a Seadoo you're trying to sell? They'd try to get you to trade it in on a new car. Getting rid of a TV? Bring it in!

Madness.

That said, it's worth a shot. See what they offer. It isn't unheard of for a dealer to buy cars from private parties for resale.

Yeah, don't walk in there with high expectations at all. It is worth a shot, though, you never know. But chances are you will probably walk out laughing at him or storm out cursing him.
