Question Need recommendations for brake pads

As the title states, I need new brake pads. What would you all recommend for 4-pots? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I carry and stock Axxis pads and stoptech SP pads.

both pads are great, the one advantage of the Stoptech SP pads are they dont dust as bad as the Axxis, they have very similar characteristics but with a higher operating temp, so the cold initial bite is a bit less than Axxis but duration and pedal modulation is slightly improved throughout.

we have these pads for every year/make subaru in stock.

my $0.02

I'm very satisfied with Axiss Ultimates. They are as good or better than stock STi pads. Good bite, no squeaking but they do dust a lot.

Thanks Noah, I'll definitely look into those. How much do those cost typically?

i am currently running the axxis ultimate brake pads. way better than stock pads. used them during a track day during the summer. worked fine throughout the day in 100+ degree temperature.

I run the Porterfield R4S. They are a little pricey compared to the Axxis or even the Hawk pads. I can't really compare to other pads because I've never ran anything else, but I haven't had any problems with them yet. Other people said that they held up great on the track. No real problems at all.

if you want some Ferodo 2500s i'm selling a brand new set. killer track pads.

but as far picking the right pad, it depends on the application: daily driver, track, little bit of both...

ha ha you know where I'm at

truthfully Stoptech SP pads would be perfect for your application/needs. Great Bite, Great value, and they don't beat up rotors.

I run EBC yellows on the rally car. Fine for the street (work fine when cold) and they're a full 'track pad' as well....the price is perfect.

I also run the Porterfield R4S pads and have been Very Satisfied with them. I'd recommend them.

I got them from LPI Racing. Really cool guys. They even stayed late so I could swing by and pick up the pads.

As a counterpoint, I've tried the Axxis and the R4-S pads and they both were a failure for me on the track. Both were shot before the end of the track day from brand new (Thunderhill, not super hot weather). Granted, I drive the **** out of the car when I'm out there, but I just thought I'd offer this info (though it seems like the OP doesn't have his use in mind). I now use Carbotech XP-8s on the track and they've been great, lasting 4+ events. (I also run front brake ducting...) :-D

i'm with noah, go with the stoptech street performance pads. less $ than hawks and other boutique brands. if not the stoptech sp, then just go with some Hawk HPS. everyone and their mothers seem to like these for daily driving. the stoptechs are supposed to be better though at modulation and at a wider range of temps. do not get axxis deluxe plus - they dont bite for isht.

Yeah, but how did they stack up on Street Driving?

The R4-S is their Street Version, but is not really meant for Track Use (It says it can be used, but for limited use). If you are going to track the car with the Porterfield's you should be using their R4 pads instead.

There also have been good things said about the Carbotech Bobcats, but just like anything you run, you need to determine what application you are using them for as what works well for 1 scenario may be total garbage for another scenario.

This is some good information about the different Carbotech Brake Pads (see link):
