If you need some advice, real advice, about going into the guard or good people to talk to about it and can give you real info and help, contact me. I myself am in the CA Army National Guard, have had a lot of experience, and met a lot of people that can lend you help if you need it, if i cant.

As a side note, the guard is starting to downsize now as we are beginning to pull out of the fight which is why requirements are starting to get tighter again for new recruits.

certification is entirely dependent on the individual to study and pass the national certification. What they're doing now in phase 2 of AIT is signing the students up to take the cert test and help prepare them to take it. What I'm saying is, it's not a guarantee. Also AIT for 68P, xray tech, gives you almost enough credits for a AA degree. One downside, for active duty, is the promotion rates for most of the 68 series career field is painfully slow or stagnant at the E6 level. Probably doesn't matter to you if you're looking at OCS. I know the Army is hurting for social workers right now, that might be something to look into if you're interested in that type of work. There's a program where they'll send you to school to become a social worker if you get accepted.
