Agreed, that where I was for the last four years. Being an analyst for those guys. Coolest job ever telling a platoon of team guys where to go kill bad guys. As stressful as the life was, the most rewarding tour in my career so far. I hope to go back as soon as I'm done with my shore duty here in East Bay.
yep, I was an support guy attached directly to a team. but not anymore though, now im working an independent duty spot in East Bay. Like I said, its my shore duty but need to deploy again, good money to be made.

What do you plan on doing in the National Guard career wise?
As for boot camp, it's all mind games. Depending on your personality, you might have fun playing the **** **** games. Or it might break you and you'll be sobbing in your rack after lights out. LOL.
BTW, did you go down to MEPS and they gave you a waiver saying you're cleared for enlistment or what?

The law, I'm familiar with. I'm just worried about getting a job now and feeling like a jerk when I have to tell them that I need to leave for a couple months.
I got back from MEPS earlier today. I originally went in for an inspect, then I was supposed to talk about shipping out and OCS. After waiting for a couple hours, turns out that paper work was filled out incorrectly, so I was sent home. Now I have to go back again in a couple days when the file the correct paper work. NOW, I'm being told that I may not even be eligible for OCS (or a security clearance for that matter) due to crappy credit (housing crisis).

crappy credit or not- you still have an opportunity. Develop a get well plan; and let them know what you're doing to improve/fix your credit. They all want to see accountability and responsibility with positive actions in handling. The worst thing that can happen is that they say no. So maximize on your opportunity by controlling what you can and you should be locked and loaded.

OK so some words from your local 79v40 Career counselor.
Have you picked a job yet?
Are you sold on the national guard?
When I can get ahold of someone just going in I love it, because your recruiter is going to feed you line after line of bull****, I dont care who they are. They have a quota to fill.
The two best jobs in the army reserve right now, and why I say they are the best is because they translate into quantifiable skills in the real world are
1. x-ray tech. These jobs are few and far between, and you may have to sit on delayed entry for awhile, but you will come out of basic, and AIT as a certified x-ray technition able to get a job paying over $40 per hour at any hospital.
2. signal. 25n or 25b you will graduate with all of your cisco, and wint certifications, and be able to get a job at any techy place.....
Just sayin.
p.m. me if you want my number and we can talk, and I can break it down for you.

as far as updates go, as shayhan said, I was fed some crap today. My recruiter is the husband of one of my friends too! I only wanted the National Guard because my test score qualified for OCS. otherwise, I may go a different route.
