Dry cell.

lighter than redtop, can also be used for deep cycle (not just starting).

I'll post a review when it gets here.

I've had my odyssey a couple of months now...no problems. Starts like a charm. Very happy with my purchase.

which one did you get?

Despite the lack of understanding from West Coast Batteries, Inc...I ordered the PC925LMJT.

(By lack of understanding...it's a bad sign when they ask you, "who makes Subaru?"...I said, Subaru makes Subaru, unless you're talking about FHI[fuji heavy industries...]...but I doubt she needed that much detail).

26 lbs, 3yr warranty but should last like 10.

are you ready for this...$170 +S&H (yup that's a lot). I found out later a competitor had it for $40 less. I promptly emailed them requesting a price match...otherwise the shipping back and forth would not have been worth it. For comparison, teh redtop at sears goes for $150, which is still not as good as a true dry cell design (shrug).

I know NASIOC threads recommend the smaller 16 lb version...but I didn't want to risk the battery dying when I'm up at tahoe (not that it would...but I believe in over compensating w/ redundant systems).

stock sound system, so I know this battery is overkill for my needs.

It should be delivered today. I'll post a review and will slam the retailer further if they don't come thru w/ a price match.

I don't need anything so extravagant as an optima, but I'd like a light (under 20 pounds) battery to replace my failing stock battery, for $100 or less. Where should I be looking? It has to be drop-in with no modifications to the hardware.

I went w/ over kll and got the larger one, which is still "small" relative to stock.

For teh guy that wants to spend <$100, this is the one to get to reduce weight dramatically. But you'll have to rigg something up to hold it in place. Some wood blocks should do the trick.
Anything that fits the stock location "perfectly" won;t save anyweight and may actually weigh significantly more. In which case just getting a new stock battery may be teh best way.
