Need advice on paint flaking off.

When I bought my car ('06 black STI) it had a small amount of what looked to be gravel damage at the bottom of the front bumper. Over the course of the past several months and a few car washes, it has progressed to large chunks of the paint flaking off.

Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way for me to get this fixed? Recommended body shops in the south bay?

Ballz, here on i-club, would be someone to check out. he knows his ****.

Other than that welcome to having a blue or black subaru.

Its called "Starry-night" and thats how i have heard it reffered to and how i refer to it myself. The black and blue have a white primer backround and when it chips it looks like white stars on a blue or black sky backround.

I have it hard core and i only have 25,000 miles.

One tip before or after you get it fixed:

When you go to the snow. get the widest blue tape you can find and tape that **** up.

Also if you do get the front repainted, 3M that ****.

Get the whole front of your car repainted and install a clear bra.

can they install a clear bra right after painting? I always thought you had to wait a period of time, in which the bumper/hood gets chiped up again before you have a chance for bra

Word, anyone know where you can get those "ouch" stickers? I need about 40, and some duck tape...maybe a few zip ties as well.

Maybe I should just put some black duct tape over it.

Yes you have to wait.. Paint needs to cure for 30 days which means no washing or waxing.

Yeah paint needs to cure. To be on the safe side 30 days but quite honestly I think its much less. But with the current wet weather I'd be safe and say 30.

So I'd do it right now or I'd wait until after winter.

You need to wait 30 days after it's painted before you can clear bra. The reason is even though the paint is dry on top, it is still wet on the bottom.. It takes 30 days for the paint to cure..

Just run it as it is through the winter. Its a plastic bumper so you wont have to worry about rust. After that, get it resprayed and then clear bra after that 30 days.
