great that you and your car were saved! i know my driving has saved me a few times and my car (prelude) was slightly damaged because of idiots who dont have CDL or do but shouldnt be driving.....but with the subaru....ive managed to escape some pretty serious incidents including one similar to yours....i saw the same kinda thing happening in front of me. 3 cars and the one behind me wasnt looking straight ahead....so tapped the brakes.....floored it and was out....the car that was behind me looked up way too late and slammed into the car that was in front of me. i almost got sammiched i got lucky!

go Arya!

80% of the people driving in the south bay should have their licenses taken away grrr

Where I live, the subie has definately helped me avoid deer more than stupid drivers I think. But we have lots of those too :/. Lots of wiggerish guys driving around in escalades blasting rap and talking on the phone - so many of them have totaled cars its rediculous.

You're so full of ihst.

This accident was in his destiny, but due to good driving habits (spatial awareness and good reactions), with a little love from the AWD system...

...he was able to CHANGE his destiny. Sorry that you feel so powerless over your own destiny, but I like to hear stories like this which lead me to believe that there ARE good drivers out on the roads.

Glad it worked out for you.

But it's clearly an exaggeration that the suby saved your life. Why would you have had it so much worse than the others who all seem to be OK?

Were you going way faster than all of them?

I agree w/ the earlier post that it's more to do w/ your awareness rather than the car.

The suby has saved me from others, but more so, my own stupidity countless number of times.

Now if a bunch of cars were all skidding towards a cliff and the awd allowed you to manuver to safety while everyone else fell over and died...THEN the post title would be right on.

I agree with you that the title is a bit of an exagaration but at the speed in which the accident occured my subaru would have definatly been totaled (all the other cars were) and I possible could have gotten into a VERY serious accident.

Maybe I should rename the thread "My WRX Saved my *** today"

I guess I don't get in to much stop and go traffic. I usually try to drive like everyone around me is going to be an idiot, not look, no blinkers, and just try to hit me.

As long as you drive defensively, and be 2 steps ahead of what could happen around you, you'll be safe. to a point at least.

Glad to hear you're OK.

Arya, glad you're ok. Send the story to Subaru and maybe they can do a commercial of it. I hardly ever see subaru commercials.

Also, I know everything you explained probably happened in seconds, but if anything like that happens again, DUDE take advantage and do some donuts!!!

it's sad that people have to learn their lesson this way when paying a little more attention driving could have saved them.
