1/2 quart is not that bad at all, subaru says that the 2.5 is "ok" if it's less then 1 1/2 guart a 3000 mile

My 70k mile stock EJ255 with a VF-39 burns about 1/4 to 1/2 quart every 4k miles. It has been running 20 psi since 5k miles. I check every time the car is cold, so basically every morning. The more you check, the better the chance of noticing an issue before your motor goes boom. Anything less is lazy and irresponsible

someone correct me if I'm wrong but I thought you check oil after the car has been running and the oil temp is warm and the car has been sitting for about 5 min

When it's cold the oil is in the oil pan and it's more accurate reading, or so I thought.

I'd love to know how much oil you're wiping off every time you check compared to how much oil is actually being burned off by the motor.

Not to mention, if you lose a noticeable amount of oil on one drive, I'm willing to bet you already have major issues with other obvious symptoms. BTW, you people checking every day/every drive. Are you measuring the depth of the oil, or just eyeballing it? Are you measuring it at a consistent temperature and taking into account volume shrinkage/expansion for the given temperature, or just measuring it at ambient temps? You can call me lazy and irresponsible after you get help for your OCD

Are you for real? Are you seriously suggesting that checking my oil regularly is a bad idea? I will get help for my "OCD" when you get a doctor to pull your head out of your ***

"Regularly," no. Daily, OCD.

I know you though man, and I know you like to skip words and gloss over the key points, so I'm just going to leave it at that.
