Josh Slaats is my buddy, lives right down the street from me, went to the same high school, I'm actually chillin' with him tonight to celebrate! Woot!

"SECAUCUS, N.J. – University of Hawai‘i juniors Josh Slaats, Greg Garcia and David Freitas, were taken in the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft Tuesday, going in the fifth, seventh and 15th rounds, respectively.

Slaats was drafted in the fifth round by the Colorado Rockies with the 170th pick overall. The San Ramon, Calif., native was UH’s staff ace for much of the season, going 5-4 with a 3.77 ERA, striking out 75 in 74.0 innings. Slaats had two complete-game shutouts on the season and was named the WAC Pitcher of the Week four times while earning second team all-WAC honors."

Wow, he's set for life. He does get an intro pay (for all majors) and then after that year that's when the stupid amounts of pay gets tossed around.

 

I told him that he better be paying for drinks tonight haha.

 

Coors Field. Yikes. Not exactly a pitcher friendly stadium, but who cares as long as you're drafted by an MLB team? Congrats!

 

Yeah, we have a lot of friends that are in Colorado, most of them go to CSU or CU (Boulder woooooo) so he's got friends from a young age out there which will be nice.

 

anyone else misread the title as "My Girlfriend got drafted by the Rockies" ? Anyways congrats, and yes drinks are on HIM!

 

I bet his now ex-girlfriend that recently broke up with him is going to regret her decision, haha!
