You could do what they did to that stalker. Get someone to be bait again and see if he'll show himself. Wait around with your friends and beat this guys a$$! (the people that tricked that stalker killed him and didn't get in any trouble.) If you do do it though, make sure you tell him he can do it the "easy way or the hard way". That'll totally ruin his homeless thug street rep which is a bad thing I hear.
tell the cops to call the cell number. see who picks up.
also, if you watch CSI or L&O, the phone companies can locate the phone by triangulation...

Damn - hope your gf is on the mend. That's totally FU. There's no place that is safe in SF anymore, maybe some spots safer than others. Yeah, but it does happen. The local neighborhood paper has a section called the "Police Blotter" and you hear about all of these crimes more often than you'd like.

Sorry to hear about that, that's my worst nightmare. Doesn't sound like there's too much she could have done since he came up from the back. But, good he just took the purse and left after that.
I carry pepper spray but in instances like that it's not always practical. The best thing for a woman is to take a self defense class or learn self defense moves. Say, had the guy wanted to stick around she could learn moves to fight him off. A few simple moves can save your life...

my mom has been through that, but in a store, she was watching a store for her friend, a little dollar store and these three punk black kids i mean like 13 years old came in and beat her down. And took what they could. but those stupid *** kids left their bikes their and since i knew how to finger print (hehe i am sneaky) i got their finger prints lifted and went to a police friend of mine.... luckyily one of the kids was in their database, because of their mom putting it in for children who get kidnapped. Well I told my little brother to go and get his friends and kick their butt. But since i didnt want him to get in trouble, i contacted their parents and we got a settlement out of it.
Well, being a in criminalistics , u should search the area where she got mugged if there wasnt much in her purse, most likely he dumped it in a trash can nearby. and took what he wanted. So it wouldnt hurt to check and lift his prints off of it. Just where gloves and put it in a paparbag. Good luck

damn dood, I could have used your help when my house got broken in to. Stupid ****in SJPD wouldn't lift the prints I found that were from nobody but the theif(they were fresh prints from inside a dusty computer case).
