Motegi Traklites

I'm seriously considering Motegi Traklites for my LGT. They're a forged wheel for less than half the price of Volks and weigh less. I've found Summit Racing and a few other online vendors carry them, although they are currently out of stock.

I was thinking maybe the cheapest source might be one of the national tire or parts places though. I tried Big O tires but their prices were higher than Summit. Do any of the local places move a lot of these wheels?

The Motegi web site says you can get custom sizes too, has anyone gone that route?

There are 2 versions, 5 spokes and 6 spokes. Which one are you going for?

I haven't decided. I kind of like the look of the 5 spoke over the 6.

I bought a set of these rims for my RSX before I sold it. Now they're on my significant other's prelude (she begged me for days to let her have them lol). Anyhow - I bought them for the same reasons your considering them - super light weight, good looking imho, forged, waay cheaper than Volks, etc. Some ppl talk s*** about motegi and this and that, but you get a ton of value for your money with traklites and i'm pretty sure theres not another rim out there for less thats also forged. They are cheap rims that aren't cheap if you get what i'm saying. If they made these in gold in the dimensions i'm looking for my subie i'd buy another set in a heartbeat. Just my two pennies.

BTW i bought mine off ebay for like $1150 with tires mounted and balanced, and that was for 17x7 5 spokes in gunmetal w/ polished lip. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input.

I want the 17x8 and according to the Summit Racing web page that means I get a choice of black for finish. Since my car is also black I'm going to paint the lip red for a little contrast.

You could get another set for your Subaru and have them painted or coated gold and come out way ahead from getting a set BBS or Volks.
