If your willing to pull a knife on someone, you sure as **** better be ready for a knife fight.
just because hes a "hard working roofer" doesnt give him the right to cause someone to fear for his life.
The victim has all of these things going for him.
He was outnumbered
he was unarmed
he was held at knife point
he was threatened with his life
at that moment he was in fear for his life thus deeming the homicide justifiable due to the exigent circumstances.
the man may not have had a gun, but someone holding a knife to his throat would be reason to believe the man may be concealing a firearm.
this sounds like a very violent robbery with a high propensity for bodily damage, especially if the demands were not met.
the man made a decision, and he shouldnt second guess himself.
If i were in the situation i would have done the same thing. Defend my life.

About 5-6yrs ago it was pretty easy to get one in Orange County. Not sure if that has changed or not.
I was under the impression that recognition varied county to county as well as state to state. For example a CCW issued in OC would not be valid in LA. It depended on the county. Again, I looked into this a ways back so things could have changed.

However, California does not recognize CCW permits from other states. e.g: if you were travelling across country and wanted to carry a concealed sidearm in your vehicle or person. But, if you own a CCW permit issued in anywhere in CA, it is recognized by several, if not all other states in the US since we're pretty strict out here.
To stay on topic, IMO he had plenty of time to reconsider his decision, I don't think that he just woke up one morning and thought "No roofing today, might as well rob someone at knife point..."

Yeah for sure man. I think people these days are f'ing out of touch with reality. Blame it on the internet, movies, video games, i dunno what to say.
It makes perfect sense that some kid starts robbing people at knifepoint and never expects someone to fight back or that he'll ever be in physical danger. At its core it boils down to the same mentality of people who get ripped off, scammed, tricked, whatever. People just are thinking less and less about the real life consequences of their actions and having a false sense of security in the "modern age," instead of thinking through stuff like it actually matters

In my opinion, I hope all the way back to his ****in house he felt every pump of blood leaking out because he decided he wanted to go break the law and rob somebody.
Good riddance, this needs to happen more often.

If you can avoid a fight; run away.

Lethal force as a FINAL option.
