In CA, and in the Bay Area no less? You have a better chance of having a leprechaun, riding a unicorn, wielding Excalibur save you from the bad guys....

So wait... are you saying that death is a justifiable punishment for threatening someone else's life?

the guy deserved it. sucks that he had to die in front of his family but hey...at least they got to see him one last time.

as for the victim, i'm glad to see he's not charged. hopefully he won't be involved in any civil suit either by the deceased father trying to get some money out of this.

These dudes tried to rob someone and got dealt with. So let this be an example for the rest of the dumbasses running around Fruitvale/Jingle and the whole east. Not everyone is going to be scared of you when you are trying to jack them.
My bad, I misinterpreted what you were saying. All too often people take pride in the crime that goes on in the city they live in, but this just adds fuel to the fire.

Just to be clear, I'm not questioning the right to defend yourself, so don't take my question that way.
I think you're under he false assumption that all human life is valuable. It is not. Some people have a positive societal value, i.e. they add benefit to society. Some have a neutral value, i.e. society can take 'em or leave 'em. Others have negative value, i.e. society is better off without them. Guess which category that dead moron falls in.

Retaliation is justified. The guy was able to run home, its not like the victim who was being robed chased after him and continued to stab him. They guy was just defending himself with means that he felt necessary at the time.

When you and an accomplice put a knife to someones throat and threaten to shoot them, then yes, I believe your death is justified.

You have to be an anti-gun Democrat in the Senate, or donate a few million to your local chief of police. Otherwise, Oakland, CCW permit......HA.
Are CCW permits county to county? I thought they were state-wide...?

If someone threaten me with a knife, I'd consider it a life/death situation. If I had a chance to do anything about it, I'd go straight for the kill to ensure that I am safe.

Then again, I am not from the Bay area, so I don't know how you guys over there think.

It is my understanding that CCW permits are county-to-county in states like CA that have not adopted the "shall issue" stance. In the states that HAVE adopted the "shall issue" stance, all you need to do is apply and the state, well, "shall issue." So here in CA, you have a better chance at getting a CCW in more rural counties, unless you're Sean Penn, in which case you'll get one even in Marin county.

they are state wide, but issued by the county.

El Dorado County used to be pretty easy to get one 10-15 years ago, and that would allow you to carry anywhere in the state.

now its easier to come up with the mythical creatures pointed out in the previous post then a CCW permit now a days.
