Nuts to you!!!!! I for one love them. That is the only car that would make me want to give up my GF wagon.

hehe..too bad the clutch is a wear item and likely won't be covered =P
THe subie drivetrain warranty is crap too. A buddy on another board just got his voided (he changed his rear diff fluid, a bunch of metal chunks came out). Its not making any noise, but big metal chunks should not be coming out of the diff
They looked up his car on the net, found out he had taken it to the strip, and voided the warranty

your friend either doesn't know how to drive or just loves dumping the clutch on it. I have 11k on mine and the clutch is still good.

that said, even though a clutch is a wear item down the road, it can be argued that most all components in a car are wear items... for example if the engine lost significant compression in a couple cylinders at 14,000 miles... yeah, it would have happened eventually anyways, but not until a hundred thousand+++ miles under normal conditions. so the manufacturer is obviously going to make things right.
so premature wear of a clutch should be covered unless they find hot spots on the flywheel (whatever that means, just a term I've heard tossed around) or other signs of abuse (broken axles, hello???). the people who abuse their cars getting trannies warrantied make it more difficult for all of us to get our warranties honored.
Subaru's often have their clutch replaced under warranty in my experience unless there are mods or signs of abuse. More often than not, STi owners are able to get their first clutch covered under warranty. Is this a false impression that I'm getting? I know BMW's policy is 1 clutch and then it's on you. companies aren't stupid, but at the same time, replacing a clutch on a car costs a lot less than losing a customer's business. i'd rather UNFAIRLY go out of my way cover some kid breaking a clutch on his STi and have him buy another one in a couple years when the new model comes out since the profit on the car is a whole lot more than what they'll lose by covering the repair under warranty.
It might be a false impression that Evos lose their clutch a lot more often than STi's, but its the impression I get from reading the forums... Evos and clutch problems are almost synonymous.
I don't understand what people are thinking when they redline their engine and dump the clutch on an AWD street car and expect it to work time and time again. but of course, I've never done a redline clutch drop, so I might be missing the appeal of this behavior...lol.

The front lip is rather nice. The side cut out is based on the one on the WR race car for increased downforce.
Here's a picture from the my new issue of LancerEvo magazine.

And you are correct, the STi clutch is a far better unit than the mitsu one.

Some people need to learn how to drive a manual car.
