Old Timer!?! Why I otta...
Oh, wait, I'll be 35 on Monday; I guess I'm gettin' old.

Anyway, I was 11BC2...Dragon gunner, door gunner, combat medic, designated sharpshooter(pre sniper), and pogue-*** truck driver(drove a 5 ton for ammo section).
Man, the stories I got in my head...I should write a book, but no one would believe it.

Here's one: Platoon was doing hostage rescue training at the Tire House. The instructor explains all the rules; trigger discipline, toss the frag into the room, etc.
After several dry runs/walk throughs, we do a "real" pass with blanks. Everything goes great, so we go "hot"; live ammo and HE frags.
My team lines up at the entry door; three on each side of the door. I'm the 3 man on the Left side team (looking at the door). My room mate pulls the pin, cooks for two, and THROWS the frag into the room so f'ing hard, it bounces back towards the door & stops in the doorway.
I grabbed the #2 man, throw him to the ground, and smother him. The #1 man smothered me. It seemed like an hour before that thing finally blew.
BOOOM!
Heat & flash dies down. We get up expecting to be missing various bits and pieces, but no one was injured. Not even a scratch. My roomie had some shrapnell in his boot soles, but that was all.

That's why I don't play Lotto.

LOL they don't even have the 'C2' identifier anymore A few CSM's and 1SG's still have it though

I had '2C' (Javelin Gunner) after my 11B along with "2P" among others

God i used to love live fire shoot houses.

Also had a simliar story conducting CQB with my LRS team. We recently got a FNG FO attached to our team and decided to use him as our #4 man for rear security (SOP depending) because our other man got killed by an "OC". Anyway, my engineer hits a deadbolt door and decided to breach it with a silhouette charge instead of blowing the hinges with his shotgun or hinge charge.

he sets the silhouette charge (comp b det-cord stuck on ducttape for those of you wondering ) and pops it. My FO conducting rear security is flagging the door and goes flying 2yards. he pick him up, dust him off and check for injuries and he's got about 15 2-3" wood fragments in his ruck sack and his radio is toast.

A lot of hairy situations.
