haha... OK, maybe you're right. Here at work, we bought a Mac a few months ago. So we were one of those 8 out of 10 offices. But we have 1 Mac and 500 PC's, Mac isn't taking over the world anytime soon.

So far the Mac is cute, it's built in webcam software works pretty good. That's about all it gets used for.

The whole reason they have to submit like that to the government is because of anti-trust issues... the double click stolen from Apple, Tabbed browsing stolen from Mozilla (Firefox) etc etc

Microsoft has to steal steal steal just to suck like it does.. now imagine how bad they would suck if they didn't steal... I can't imagine such.

Let me educate you young folk on the true history of the GUI.

1976: Zerox starts "the basement" a building in San Jose. In it they house 200 of some of the top tech names. The mission, build what they want with no real budget lines.
1979: The first mouse, and GUI has been built in the basement. Zerox fails to see the posiblity. They sell "dos" to a young man named bill gates, and the GUI is sold to a company called "Geo"
1980: GEO puts a patent on double click, the mouse, tabed browsing and 10-12 other items.
1984: GEO puts out the first GUI, for the apple ][+ system. This fails, however a tiny company called Comadore picks it up, and turns it into the first amiga platform OS.
1985: Apple boldly steals the GUI idea from GEO, however because GEO is small and apple is huge, they can not take them in court. Apple wins by default but devides going after the amiga version would be a bad move.

I could go on, but the point is Apple did NOT INVENT THE GUI, OR DOUBLE CLICK no mater how much that hack Jobs wants people to believe it. In fact apple has been sued more times for patent infringemnt than microsoft and adobe combined.

+1.

Just right now Apple is super successful with the iPhone. I've yet to see a lot of Macs in the same room for business use.

I think we can all agree, that they both have their up and downs correct? Neither is perfect. Only thing the Mac might have a huge upper hand on is advertisment.

Only way mac knows how to sell is to bash on PC and to show off how cute, small and pretty their computers are. And if you look at majority of the population who own one are mostly scene looking kids who get sold on a image. None of them went to look at specs or the operating system.

PC has always been faster and not sold on a cute box image. The end.

And how would you propose tackling a competitor that once held as high as 95% of the consumer base for computers?

Its working. Period.

Microsoft has been a big force since IBM adopted some of their first software. Apple went the route of personal PCs. Unfortunately for Apple, once the personal PC became affordable, people's main use for them were still business oriented. So people bought personal computers to augment the units at work, which meant that they wanted the same software, Windows. So w/o much effort, MS took over both the business and personal computer segments.

Macs can be set up for business use, but influences like price, integration, and the IT department will steer businesses to use MS based computers. It's the business standard. Macs went a different route. Although their recent add campaigns do bash the PC, the underlying point is that the Mac is something different. It's all a personal preference and not much more than that.

The fact that there are entire websites dedicated to hating on Macs is pretty pathetic. It's just a computer. If it hurts peoples feeling that much they have much bigger problems than trying to reassure people that pc's are super-awesome. There will never be a computer that will be accepted by everyone and some people need to get over it. Its no different than fighting over sports teams. It's pointless and goes nowhere. Basically, whomever gets the last word in is the winner.

which was pretty much my point. its not even about the operating system or performance of the computer. its become a trend and a lifestyle. mac has created a cult of brainwashed trend followers. mac sells due to bashing of the pc and their exterior image. thats all. then you have the angry pc gamers who fought back with anti mac sites and so forth. and its never gonna stop

I can't stand overly biased PC freaks. Sorry dude, but that's just ridiculous.

Brainwashed trend followers? I've been working on PC's AND Apple computers since probably 1993 or so. I've been using them professionally since 1996/97. I use Macs 100% of the time because they're better for what I do. Graphic design. I'm not brainwashed or a trend follower.

We have an apple laptop that's my wife's. Why spend the extra dough on an apple? Because I use it for work at home from time to time, it integrates with the ipod really well and its MUCH easier to use for her and has the little features people like her enjoy.

Apple computers are getting an increase in sales not because they brainwash people (you assume everyone on earth is a ****ing idiot but you and fellow pc users?), but because of excellent marketing, nicer products, the spread of iphones and ipods increasing public awareness and pushing some folks that extra little bit that were already thinking about it and increasing crappy microsoft related products. Toss in apple getting closer and closer to reasonable price points for more people. (I'm aware that was very poor grammar and don't care)

Brainwashing and trends.... that's just stupid and ridiculous.

I don't hate mac's. It's the certain mac owners who think thier **** don't stink that I can't stand.

When I worked at Apple back in the days, they had a HUGE department called the 'Evangelists'. I never really understood (or cared) back then as I was young didn't pay much attention to it. But now it makes sense. All the preaching and condeming(sp?) of others.

I'm the same way with PCs. They serve their purpose. For the money you can great computers cheap. For gaming they're the best. For me... not what I want, not what I need and not what I feel comfortable with.

I will say that I HATE MICROSOFT. Their products suck. Gotten fat and lazy and need to get with the times. Word sucks. Powerpoint sucks. Everything microsoft makes sucks. Period.

Firefox has a built in spell check feature ........just messing with ya

It's marketing. If you don't market something, chances are it won't sell. Nothing wrong with promoting a product.

And I don't see where the whole "lifestyle" thing comes into play? My life hasn't changed one bit after getting a Mac, just as I expected. People might be stoked that they don't need to rely on Microsoft apps anymore or that other Mac users can familiarize them with their new system, but I don't see it going beyond that. No different than people saying their proud to be part of the Suby community as opposed to the (insert car) community.

For me, the software I use to work is supported only on windows or UNIX platforms and this company's UNIX support is like a black hole. For games, I prefer windows based computers. For the most part, I'd have to agree that Vista sucked pre SP1 but post, it seems like a totally different animal.. In my laptop, the difference is almost night and day. The only thing I'll never keep on any windows PC is IE. Any version of IE is just terribad. I'll just d/l Firefox delete the desktop and toolbar IE icons and be done with it.

umm yea. I loved working on apple at my school. DigitalX class was much fun I must say. What was even better was that we had to save our work every 15 min due to the computer crashing.

Far as advertisment.. everything you see on tv now a days is brainwash. corporately groomed for people to consume. theyre obviously selling a image. A over priced colored box thats really not that fancy or fast.

dont get me wrong, apple is great for graphic design and music. but what is stupid and ridicilous is the mindset all apple users are stuck in. EVERYTHING sucks but apple. thats all they know. They see a commerical saying pc sucks apple is great. automatically thats what they believe without knowing one god damn thing about computers. "my computer is cute and small, therfore it must be better than a pc".

No. That's YOUR mindset of any Apple user. That is definitely not the norm with Mac users. Besides, the same can be said about snobby elitist pc users. It goes both ways.

Some people think it's stupid to spend $1100 on an iMac. That's cool. I think it's stupid to spend $2000 on a pc to play video games. But it doesn't bother me as much as this seems to bother you, hence all of the connotations about 'brainwashing' and 'shiny boxes' like buying X brand computer recruits you into some anti-pc cult or something. Even if that were the case, why would that even bother you? What do you care if some consumer ***** prefers brand X over brand Y? Who gives a ****, go play Diablo III and be happy.

People that bash on Macs or PCs are just simply closed minded.
