but Apple is so green! i mean, look at all the e-waste they dont produce by releasing new ipods every other week~ sarcasm mark
Vista crashes a lot when using sli. I also think xp sp2 is a lot more stable than vista. Never had a problem with xp, but i do like the new features of vista, too bad they couldn't make it stable enough.

I just started using Vista Premium and i miss my xp pro heh. Husband bought me a laptop for my bday and it has 3g of ram, i was like NICE!!.. But with vista it uses 50% of the ram on boot. I have to agree with others on it being SLOW. Takes forever to even shut down it seems. I am going back to xp soon because it's so much faster and not so bloated. The biggest thing that bugs me so far has to be the 100 times it asks if you are sure you want to install or change a program. Thats getting pretty annoying. Another thing i didn't like is some of my software i used to use on xp wouldn't run on my Vista. So i downloaded the Vista version of what i needed and it was so ugly and just as bloated as Vista :/ I am just learning Vista but everytime i am on my vista system i find myself thinking about how much better this would run with xp haha..
Someone said in here about XP sp3 having issues.. I have been having issues as well with my other laptop since i upgraded it to sp3. My PC on the other hand i upgraded it to sp3 and so far so good no issues. :shrugs:
As for the "Apple" vs "Microsoft" debate it's no different then the "Intel" vs "Amd" or "nVidia" vs "ATI" and on and on lol.

Ram issues...
You guys realize that you want your computer to use a lot of ram. That's what it's there for. Unused Ram is wasted Ram. The more ram that is used up, the less loading that has to take place. So if you have 4 gigs of ram (Vista now recognizes all 4 gigs post SP1) and you're only using 2.5 of that. The rest is just wasted. Don't look at it as being reserved for something else. An efficient system will load up that ram and use it.

^^If you goto task manager and it says "Windows is using 1.8gb out of 2.0gb"
That is not good. Yes you want Windows to recognize the ram but you don't it using it up. Unused ram is a faster system...
Its like if the ram is a freeway and has a lot of lanes and barely any cars driving on it (programs using the ram).. then all the cars can run at full freeway speed with no slowdowns.

I love my apples. I've had a g4 cube since 2001 and it still works fine to this day. How many re-boots and hardware would I have gone through on a pc by now, lol.

with all the ram it used it should be faster than xp but its not. takes 2-3 times longer to shut down. I would agree u want it to use more ram but act like it if that's the case. Vista needs the extra ram for all the bloat.

If u have good solid hardware and take care of it, it will last a long time too. I used to hardly ever had to reboot it but now I shut it down at night.
Well some of the ideas with upgrading all the time is that it would be able to run older versions of things.
Kinda like how PS3 can run PS2 games, or somethin'. But yea it sucks if you had XP programs that were great in XP but just sux ***** for vista. That doesn't seem right to me.

Here's a typical Apple issue:
Both my fiance and myself have the new Apple shuffles. They charge via USB, but I don't want to have to leave my computer switched on to charge them.
I have a couple of USB wall-warts which should work, but the Shuffle has some firmware built into it to prevent this working. You have to buy an Apple charger instead.
I have also heard (but yet to test) that you have to run iTunes to start them charging. Certainly, the charge indicator didn't light until I ran iTunes - and people talk about MS's anti-trust issues.
I still love the shuffle for what it is - great for jogging/gym etc.

At my old job we had a MAC with OS9 or something pre-osx. Things was the bigest pos ever. It would crash on booting. The company wouldn't upgrade it because it would cost over $2000 to upgrade the software to run on osx.
Talk about compatibility between os revisions huh?
