Married Guys!!! Need help!!!!

Hey guys. My ToBe is all over my *** to get more active in the wedding planning.

Well we have finally chosen our colors....our place.....our date. She has her dress.

I'm looking for a tux. I want BROWN!!!!!!!! Chocolate brown but I can't find any. I want plane brown for the guys...brown pinstripe for me. Any other ideas.

Our colors are in between country and classy as we're getting married outdoors at a ranch and doing kind of a punk/rock a billy deal. We are going chocolate brown. Light antique creamy pale yellow...kinda 60's. Antique white. And a very small hint of pink. Like in the flowers and on the cake.

I might be able to do black tuxes with chocolate brown ties or something.

also....I need my ring. any ideas??? I like that black titanium stuff. simple.

any other hints on stuff I can take over to lighten her load and mine at the same time?????

You're either Black or Filipino.

Don't mean no offense but those are some nontraditional colors.

Your best bet is to have a suit/tux made for you otherwise it will fit like a$$. How many popular sizes do you think a brown pinstripe may have? If you do it right, the suit can be split as a sports jacket that can be worn again.

Or get a suit and take it to a tailor to customize it for you.

If you're goal is to look sharp, don't go to a rent-a-tux place. Seriously, pants w/ elastic waist??? And clip on bow-ties???

are you planning on renting or buying the tux? I think you're gonna have a helluva time trying to find a brown tux to rent.

I bought my ring @ costco. Plain platinum band. It was about 400 bucks cheaper than most jewelers.

Congrats and good luck!

rent a tux places aren't that bad... as long as you get the right tux and make sure to go back to get refitted when it comes back. Don't get the "after six" crap tux that's made of polyester.

Yes, she wins. The reasoning behind this is not what you think. It's very simple - this is big day for both of you, but possibly more meaningful detail-wise for her. You probably aren't as particular but will be peachy keen if she's happy. Make sense?

Check out the Mens Warehouse. You prolly have already but worth a shot. Funny, my aunt and uncle got married with the same colors - he had a brown tux with a creamy yellow shirt. Of course this was 1976.

::looks down:: what the... I am wearing a brown button up with a yellow T whilst not being black or filipino. Crazy!! I guess stereotypes aren't always right. Someone call the PD... Anyways, back on topic.

I am getting married next July and we are just getting started with the invitations and stuff. We are having the ceremony at a small farmhouse in Scotland which makes the planning a little tricky. We just got our list of people sorted and then learned we can only invite 36. Whoops.. Thankfully my girl is just as laggy as me with stuff like that. I am going for a titanum ring as well mostly because well, it's titanium. I found a bunch I liked for not too much on a site called something like www.titanium-jewelry.com.

Best of luck to ya. Maker her happy and she will return the favour.

I'm German. She's Irish/Indian.

As for non traditional...the only non traditional color in there is the chocolate and it is RAPIDLY becoming trendy. Yeah for being a graphic designer.

I hate the "traditional" colors of red roses, pure white, black and silver. No roses at all...her call not mine...I personally like the huge white ones.

Her dress isn't pure white and in my opinion mixing whites is trashy and tacky. I'm a color freak man. If it stops my eye in the wrong way it ain't right.

As for tuxes....I might just end up going black because it's easier. Higher end rentals for the guys and I'll either buy mine or buy a suit.

We're trying to do something fun. I mean it's at a ranch for god's sake.

We were going to do a big wedding at the golf club my folks own but backed out because even with the kick backs from the club it was gonna cost us like $15-20,000 to do it up there and all our friends would have to travel for ever and many people wouldn't be able to do it. Including my grandparents....grandpa can't handle the altitude.

So we picked the ranch....more people. Not as nice but more fun. Closer. And we'll be going to Tahiti and spending less on the wedding.

congrats...if you need a hand with the invites I'm a graphic designer and I'd be down to help out. The wedding invite designers charge a butt load...it's rediculous.

IMHO making it more fun and less polished is the way to go. Honestly from your couple posts it sounds like you are definitely going in with the right attitude. Stop for a moment and think about the things you are likely to take away from the event and accentuate those. I know it's cheesy and I say it a lot, but there's a lot of truth to it: "Live it like you want to remember it!"

An eye for color and such is great. My girl is a floral designer and she makes some pretty awesome/crazy things so I think we should have some fairly nice and non-traditional items. I think it's all about doing it YOUR way because it is all about you and yours. Congrats and have a blast!!!

Nice!! I may just take you up on that.

Yeah, Scotland should be cool. Looking forward to the distillery tour.

I am sure she makes ya happy already, was just saying figuratively as far as the wedding and the prep for it. My sister had to have a crazy huge wedding and she saved for all of it herself (I think my pops kicked down $200). My bro in law did everything he could to make it go "her way" since he knew he would have a blast regardless. To this day, she always talks about how it went so great and was such a oerfect experience - just the way she wanted it. Sorta cool I guess. They will make 10 yrs next April.

Not sure about brown tuxes but i'm sure you can find them if you search. If not, there are ways to make a black tux look "punky" like with chuck taylors or something like that.

Black Ti is simple? Who knew? I collect knives as a hobby and one thing i've realized is that some knife makers do jewelry commissions as well. Some even work with anodizing Ti and some nice damascus pattern steels. Some of their stuff is available for immediate sale on this site:

http://www.bladegallery.com/shopdisp...32398436014161

I'll find more for you. If you don't see what you like you should be able to find their information and get a custom commission of whatever you draw up. Designing your ring(s) and having one of these artists build them would be a fun way to be involved. The hard part may be meeting deadlines.

Keep it simple, man. My wife and I had a small wedding in Tahoe with immediate family and close friends only. Sure, some people's feeling were a little hurt despite me not seeing them since 14, but it was perfect. We had something like 65 people. It kept everything from becoming too overwhelming.

Make some calls. You shouldn't have to make arrangements for girly things she's more concerned with. But things like catering, transportation, photography, (etc) are things you could easily handle. The key to involvement (or the illusion of involvement ) is for her to sign-off on everything you've come up with.
