I'll add if you're stuck on E-tech. You could always have Auto HQ do the tuning when Shiggy is in town.

Currently just using a open source map from eq. But currently slowly learning how to self tune using the tactrix cable I recently picked up. Just thought since mann is in Santa Clara and heard they did open source I would just play on the safe side. Thanks for the info everyone

Ever since I got my car and mentioned to mann engineering I wanted slightly better handling he came out with some insane # for his stage 3 suspension kit. Like 4k for coilovers replacement brakes and an alk. Coils arent even that amazing...

So, sounds about right. Comparable coils would be in the $2K range IMO; we're not talking about Megans here. The ALK is a couple hundred, sways, endlinks, bushings, and labor AND an alignment. So not sure what the issue is? Did you get to roll on his coils? I did in their BRZ and thought the ride was pretty darn good for coils. Their coils are built on site there in their shop.

I did stage 1 there and installed and aligned it cost me about what it would have cost just for the parts, so I felt it was a pretty good deal. "Slightly" better handling would have been stage 1 + springs IMO, and Gary would not try to upsell you unless you were asking for coils AFAIK, as stage 1 does not lower the car at all.

I have ridden in a mann engineering stage 3 suspension equipt car before I bought my car. It was ok but nothing to write home about.
I can get the same buying the same things off ebay or even a different vendor.

Whiteline alk 200
Fsb + rsb and links 600
Feal 441 1400

(Not the same coil but the 441s are good for their price point)

Even if I went with a kw for 2k I would still be saving a lot of money on parts.

Even tho im most likely going with the hvts from tic.

On dspecs and yellows now.

Nothing agaist gary as ive emailed him a few times and he is great at getting back to me very fast....but I would rather spend less for more.

They charge very high because they have a top of the line dyno which costs an arm and a leg to run. I figure they charge just to break even with operating cost of the dyno.

Not sure what would make their Dyno any better than a Dynapack
Dynapack products

Their MAHA LPS3000 Chassis Dyno looks totally different than a standard dynapak. Not saying this is 100% the reason for their prices but it could be. It would be cool to see a tuner post just how much operating a dyno actually costs them but then i suppose other problems might become apparent.

Its actually a series of hampster wheels. The hampsters require a superfood diet to produce the torque to spin the drivetrain.

Its a science...kinda hard to explain why its wayyyyyy better than dynapack....but u get the idea why they charge so much more.....

The problem is that your customers don't care if it's a Maha, Dynapack, Mustang, Dynojet, or Dyno Dynamics. What they do care about is a nonsensical $525 addition to their bill. I would never pay $500 just for a printed piece of paper that says "Maha" at the top as opposed to an alternative since that's not worth it to me considering the end result of the tune (what you're actually buying) is the same either way. And I spend more than most people modifying my car.

Their dyno also has a fan system and is fully self contained. It has fans both blow air across the entire front of the car (better representation of actual flow than a carpet dryer fan like a lot of places lol, not sure how much of a difference that makes) and has in floor exhaust so they can run it without the garage doors open. Guessing that wasn't cheap

Yea but do you think they have paid off that machine yet with how many dyno tunes they have done?
Probably not, thats the reason why they jack the price up.

Doesnt mean it works any better....even tho that does sound like a very nice setup. Not just a garage tuner with a carpet fan....

Very nice....but dont jack the prices up. Keep them in the same range as competition.

Im sorry we dont drive bmw's thats why we bought an economical sports car. Moneywise.....

If you guys have enough money for a 2k tune....why does your car look like ****? Lol

Of course they haven't paid it off, the new location with the dyno has only been officially open a few months and they haven't done a ton of tunes at this spot yet. I was honestly surprised at the price too when he quoted me. AFAIK, Bill's whole thing is tuning too...and he's taught a few other shops as well. I'm not saying everyone should go there and the prices aren't exactly low for some things, but I also don't get the bashing.

You can pick up a BMW cheap right now...but fixing is where they kick your butt.
