"The officer's gun discharged" Wheres my huge rofl gif!?

Should have read "The officer placed his finger on the trigger causing the gun to discharge." I understand this is probably a 'honest mistake', but it cost a life and a whole slew of bad PR for LEOs. As I said before, there is no winner in this situation.

But, hey, $25 million should make all that pain and suffering go right away.

squirming like a fish doesn't pose a threat that a baton or a knee to hold him still couldn't handle.

The best suggestion is that he was going for is taser, which is why some agencies use a cross draw. ALCO sheriff teaches cross drawing for the taser.
A sheriff buddy of mine posted this, which shows how similar the handles on the two guns are
"the current x-26 is shaped and feels like a gun because thats what TASER wants them to feel like"
Why did they make it so similar? That's a accident waiting to happen.

I dunno what's transpired between this morning and right now, but from watching the news this morning, they interviewed the BART police chief, Jerry Gee or something like that, and from that time he's only viewed that girl's video footage and nothing else. He says we can't jump to conclusions, blah blah blah, but I just find it so funny that he hasn't seen the other footage which shows the shooting. The guy who filmed it gave it to KTVU exclusively, BUT he's also made it available to BART police as well.
Just find it funny that the police chief still hasn't seen that footage yet (at least from the morning, maybe he's seen it by now).

The video they showed on the news last night was WAY clearer. It was from inside the train and pointed strait at the dude. Was pretty intense. The newscaster even warned and said you may want to look away.

Dude was on his face. Hands behind his back. Wasn't fighting. The cop had both hands on the dudes back and it looked like just finished restraining him. Then he has his left hand on the dude. Reaches back and pulls out his side arm. Then stands up and puts his left hand on the sidearm and fires. Right into the dudes back.

If it was an accident it sure didn't look like it. Looked like a friggin assassination man. Disturbing actually.

he was going after his tazer gun but wasn't thinking.

Though he still hasn't come forward with his side of the story yet, this is probably what he's going to say.

That's what I was thinking.

Seems to me that maybe this will wake people up and force them to come up with a new way to carry the tazer. It feels too much like a gun and having it right there is too risky.

But who knows man. I feel bad for everyone. The video is gonna end this dudes career and possibly land him some jail time and probably an individual law suit on top of the BART PD suit. He'll have to carry this forever.

And a kid looses his life for a fight.

Sucks man.

ALCO sheriff train by cross-drawing. I don't know if BART cops do though

I think taser should paint the gun yellow or orange so you can visually see the color when it's held out in front of you

my understanding is bart cops have all the jurisdiction of a sheriff.

Really? Thats a little obtrusive.

BART cops should have the jurisdiction of a glorified parking/security guard and NOT carry lethal weapons.

At least IMHO.

I think this is true, because I always see them pulling over cars in my neighborhood because people make illegal U-Turns.

BTW, I live very close to the Daly City BART so I see them often.

Bart Police are just that POLICE they have a jurisdiction of a sheriff like Slow04wrx mentioned.

Anyhow, who is coming to the protest/rally tomorrow?

If you wanna roll out I'll be going. I live about 1.4 miles from Fruitvale bart. If anyone wants to meet up, PM.
it should be a good one and I'm hoping to get a lot of photos.
