He'll likely get involuntary manslaughter and get probation. Cops in jail is avoided as much as possible.
Yeah right. You wish that's all he'll get. With the evidence and eyewitnesses against him, there's no way he can beat this case at trial. He's most likely going to plead guilty to a 2nd degree Murder and serve 5-7yrs.

I think with all the media coverage, it's going to be very difficult for them to find a non biased jury.

Not only that, the DA sounds like they're trying to make an example out of him. He'll do some time for sure.

How do you know what I wish?

I wouldn't be surprised to see this trial get moved somewhere else. And I'd be surprised to see him get 2nd degree. Voluntary manslaughter maybe.

Have you seen the bart security footage? Heard police witnesses?

I'd be surprised if he gets sentenced to more than 3-5 years and he'll end up in the posh wing with a PS3 and a TV. If he's wise he'll educate himself for a change of career.

Not all of them were smoking rocks. IIRC, there was that one young Caucasian girl that took the cell phone video. She seemed more than willing to talk about what she saw...

yeah I don't think there will be a witness problem.

I think the biggest problems will be.

Defense.
Witnesses.
Publicity. (unbiased jury)
yellow taser tip, cross carried
video is powerful and one is pointed strait at them and very clear
2 years on the force (young/inexperienced)

Prosecution
Depending one what they go for... proving GROSS negligence and/or criminal intent.
If the BART video shows something we don't see now
He's a cop. Inexperience could play in favor.
He's cooperating and showing remorse.

I wonder if there is still and opening for a plea deal and staying out of court and the media...

Peter: This isn't Riyadh. You know they're not gonna saw your hands off here, alright? The worst they would ever do is they would put you for a couple of months into a white-collar, minimum-security resort! ****, we should be so lucky! Do you know they have conjugal visits there?
Samir: Really?
Peter: Yes.
Michael: ****. I'm a free man and I haven't had a conjugal visit in six months.
Peter: Look, I don't know about you guys, but I'm tired of being pushed around. Aren't you?
Samir: Yes, Peter, but I'm not going to do anything illegal.
Peter: Illegal? Samir, this is America.

As an LEO you'd be breaking leather on a regular basis.

very true. Was mostly thinking of having to fire on someone. I know I could but I don't think I'd take joy in it.

My brother in law is a LEO in fresno and he has to quite often.

His partner shot someone not to long ago.

The LAPD is nothing compared to the most aggressive police force in America.
