Ok I am still pretty new to the mac world, I have a macbook and it has been probably the single best computer i have ever owned in my life. (i am a computer nerd so i have had probably over 20 machines between laptops and desktops)
But anyway i have some questions that i cannot resolve via google search.
firefox keeps crashing
system running incredibly slow
and this is ALL of a sudden. I cannot figure out why when i boot up things are at a stall for speed. Literally if i open finder.. it takes about 30 seconds to a minute to load up the viewer then to display the contents. There were no signs of this slowly building up.. it just happened one day.
I ran a test on the harddrive and it seems healthy. (at least as far as the test could tell)
And as for firefox, I have no ideas I tried removing it then reinstalling it but no fix.
Any thoughts here?

Well, look at it this way, if a Mac tech can explain it to you in a non-dumbed down fashion, you're good to go. I'm sure those techs have to dumb it down a lot more for average users than someone like you. At least you'll learn about the machine and be that "go to" person with Macs someday.

Did you manage to clear the entire program? Which version of FireFox?
I don't know if it will completely solve it, but there's a program called AppZapper that manages to kill all bits of a prog. Might want to give it a try.

Try running it in safe boot mode. Turn the computer off. Turn the computer on and when you hear the chime, hold down the shift key. Let go of the shift key once you see the gray loading screen. Once logged in, see if it's still slow.

Reformatting is the absolute last thing to do and even then I wouldn't do it. I would do an archive and install.
What have you tried so far?
I would start by deleting the preference files for Firefox.
restart and see if that fixes the slow load-times.
Next try doing using the repair disk permissions app in the Utilities folder restart again to check the results.
What programs do you have running in the background? Do you have programs that auto start when the computer turns on? Not sure? Look at the activity monitor in the Utilities folder.
How about your disk space is it almost full?
Did you try resetting the p-ram?
If you turn off the computer at night it might not ever get to run the maintenance scripts that UNIX needs.
Try this program.

Have you tried using safari? Did it run just as slow? I would try reloading OSX and see how it runs, Im no expert but I have never had a problem like that before.
