I have a 2004 WRX and I need new Head lights, but I would like to have HID’s, Which bring me to my next question what brands are good.. I would also like to see pic's of car's that have HID's, I was looking for 8000k or even 8500k.. just not sure what will work and plug and play?? I hope someone can help me out with this..

Thanks

not my car but here is a bug eye with an 8,000k kit.
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=993905

my car is a bug eye w/ jdm black chromes and 8k kit as well, i think its the perfect temp. Very clean pure white light with a hint of blue. As far as plug and play goes, i'm not sure about 04 wrx, but the kit i got for my 03 required me to make shift quite a bit of wiring even though they claimed it was "plug n play".

8000K is way blue. 6000K is pure white with a hint of blue at the border.
5000K is pure white, 3000K is yellow

6000k is the way to go.

8500k may look great, but the light sucks in the rain like mentioned earlier. (and its a cop magnet)

actually 4300 or 5000k is the way to go. All OEM hid systems use these 2 color temps as they offer THE most light output possible

With 6k I find the light output to be great... even in the rain. Sure, you can't really see the black tarmac so much, but everything else is LIT UP.

It will work with stock housings, except you need to put projectors in the housings. Remember, the temp numbers vary can significantly from manufacturer, but it will be somewhat in the same range. Here's a link to a guy who put projectors in the stock housings. Might want to PM him for advice:

If you're in the more northern part of San Jose, you might try with Kalex. They sell Brightstar HID kits, and because they're local it's a HUGE help to me. I used to have a ProXenon kit, and they would die every few months and the turn around time would end up being ~ 1 week, so driving with 1 headlight for a week every few months was really annoying (even though they would replace them for free)

Dan Avon recommended them (brightstar) to me a while back, and they haven't failed me (and I believe haven't failed him either). Here's the info for the place: https://www.i-club.com/forums/showpo...90&postcount=7

Oh yeah, almost forgot. I'd recommend getting a relay setup which you can easily remove just the relay from the entire assembly. I've had about 4 relays die in the past few years and it's so much easier to be able to just remove and replace instead of taking everything apart. Maybe they're dying because I'm using cheap Radio Shack ones... but they're only $6.
