MY04 HID Retrofit...

I thought Id just share what I did today.. First and foremost There are 2 members that I know on here who have done their own retrofit but I know also that there is a vendor on NASIOC that also does retrofit for MY04-05 and now the MY02-03 models but charge and arm and a leg for the retrofit plus you have to ship your headlights to them...I have started tonight on my retrofit and just finsihed the drivers side!! Just gotta do a little trimming on the shroud and then finsih the passengers side, and seal it and aim it!!
Just gotta sayThanks to ggchynaboy for the help in approaching this project and juniorSTi(J) for the help and my custom H1 relay harness for the HID's, wrxboost from NASIOC, and the guys from HIDplanet.com ..Hey Jimi, well find out if the harness is functional by the end of next week as I have a whole bunch of time now!! When Im finally done with both headlights and properly aimed the headlights, I will update this threadOh yeah Jimi, you got PM!!I used a pair of 2004 rx8 headlights with ballast, bulb,etc... Here are some pics and the ggchynaboy's and juniorSTi's final product.

I reccomend for those who will attempt this project to be prepared for a time consuming work load, burning fingers from the hot a$$ adhesive coming out of the oven, safety goggles for prevention of crap flying in your eyes, mask for particles from dremmeling the headlights, and automotive gloves(IMO)to keep clean!

[
Before putting things together..

Almost everything together, just gotta put reflectors,rx8 shroud, and lens on..

All the parts & crap all over the garage..

ggchynaboy's retrofit..

juniorSTi's retrofit..

Thanks for looking,
Walter

yeah the members that have done this themselves have done a great job. yours looks like its turning out pretty good. just dont rush man.

one of the guys at our local meet got his done by the vendor and i wasnt impressed with the quality. it could have been a lot better for the price he charges.

keep us updated

walter, how are you gonna aim it?? are the projectors glued in yet, or are you using the screws?

went to a fhb parking lot near my house and security kicked me out for suspicion of drug sale!! What evers!! So this is my alternate way..Well in theory, i used a protractor and measured the degree at which each projector is aimed at. Since 90 degree is a perfect L shape, i determined that my left projector is aimed at 87 degree and my right projector is aiming at 89 degrees. So from there, I'll try to work out the kinks with either washers to aim higher or lower or just use the jb weld/kwik.
Jimi you got another PM..

Walter
