I think that's only true if you're a member

but membership in AAA is a good idea for anyone who does much travelling anyway, so yeah -join up with AAA for sure.

And take advantage of what they offer in maps and travel planning- before you need a tow or someone to run you out a can of gas, which is where AAA membership REALLY pays off

only downside with AAA maps is that local offices only carry local DETAILED maps.

like when i wen to portland last month, all they had were OR maps. no downtown. had to find an AAA portland office...

but get service for like $45 to supplement your SOA one. i love redundency... and you can never have enough insurance... good luck on your trip.
