Local HD channels

Recently, Comcast has scrambled/blacked out local hd channels in my area. Just a question: would purchasing a digital antenna work in getting back those hd channels (fox, abc, nbc, cbs, etc) via over the air reception?

If you go to TV Fool and type in your address you will get your answer.
There are some factors to consider, do you live in a valley, are there tall buildings around, anything that can block signals and such.
Hope this helps

I live in SF. So far in antenna mode on my tv, I can only pick up abc 7 and kron 4. On the website, it does say that it should pick up the other channels with an indoor antenna.

Really depends on where you are in SF in relation to, as others mentioned, hills & buildings. Most SF stations are on Sutro tower, some are on Mt. San Bruno. Get a more directional indoor antenna (may be triangle shaped or have a dish feature) and you can aim at these two points as needed; the "bunny ears" or "bow tie" type may not work. You may suffer from "multipath" that in the old analog days made "ghosts" on screen and now it just prevents the tuner from picking the signal out of the noise.

Also, there is no such thing as a special "digital" antenna - that is marketing BS. get the cheapest, directional antenna you can find. GL!

It may be just fine for your location. I found the Mohu on amazon and it claims to be omnidirectional, so it might work for you...depends. If you don't have good luck try the Terk one that is shaped like an arrow or kite (or any similar copy of the terk) and point at Sutro or San bruno. You cannot, in general, put a splitter in the line and run two antennas successfully.

Antenna stuff is funny bidnez
