Noah , as far as branding is concerned, whatever you choose I think the "LIC motorsports" should be the quickest read since the letters are your logo. In other words as soon as you see your building the first/most immediate thing that should catch my eye is "LIC motorsports", everything else is a supplement to your "brand/identity" (ie. subaru specialists). And nothing else around it should even compete with it. Colors/sizes/boldness all effect this hierarchy.

Then you should have Hatteroo wear some LIC signage in the shape of an arrow at the corner of the street, and have him dance around so that you can expand your marketing! I keed, I keed! Rick you know I love you bro!

+1

Also consider 'long term', in the design world very few things stand the test of time. The 'hot' gimmicky look of today will be looked at with awkward eyes in just a few short years. Sticking with 'keep it simple', classic look will almost always be the best bet...unless you want to rebrand yourself every few years. This philosophy includes typographic and graphic elements.

Oh, and I thought we were limited to an aluminum sign? I need a ruling here.

Hmm, so when potential customers see "LIC motorsports" they will think "motorsports? what the heck do those guys do? I'm not going racing". Whereas "Subaru Service" immediately tells everyone that sees it that they work on Subarus and not just ones that are souped up.

If you concentrate on "Subaru Service" as you 1st read, then what separates you from the dealer or any other independent shop? Why doesn't McDonalds just say hamburger, or IKEA just say inexpensive furniture? LIC motorsports is the name they chose and is consequently their logo, their identity. So it is important to begin to associate the individial first "LIC motorsports" with what they do second "Subaru Specialist". People will still see the "subaru specialist" it's not like it would be hidden.

the whole point of a sign is to self promote your business.
before mcdonalds had a trillion dollars behind them.. their sign looked like this.

and I still dont understand how you read "Subaru Service" 1st when its 3rd where it should be.

Noah, don't listen to any of those Stanford MBAs on I-Club. Your company is what you make it and what your customers see it as. So think about what that means and go with your gut feeling.

Customer.

I never said you'd read "Subaru Service" 1st!

Nice find on the McDee's old logo, but there are still far mode logos/brand identities that don't explicitly point out there service/products. Apple, HP, GAP, Shell, Mitsubishi, Sony, Google, Denny's, DHL, Firestone I mean . . I can go on and on! Yet all these companys have no problem promoting the things they do/sell!

You sir are S-M-R-T! Seriously....I didn't even think of how dirty it would get with it being white. And on top of that with Noah's OCD issues of cleanliness...it would be best to leave it tan with the LIC logo in black or something.

ps -NO I cannot be there all day long day in day out cleaning the signage area so that is not an option
