Lets hear it for your SAN JOSE S H A R K S !
I think the next 2 games the Sharks can pull it off in Anaheim. Their guys are moving faster and getting more pucks at the net, and rang another post last night and finally got past the goalie. Their Powerplay should do something next game, this 0-12 slump is outright not going to win it.

They're still having problems getting guys in front of the net. Hiller isn't invincible. He gives up juicy, juicy rebounds fairly regularly. San Jose just hasn't been able to take advantage of that. The guys look very slow and broken at times. Top players aren't doing jack squat (Obviously Clowe and Cheech have goals, but Joe and Patty aren't doing anything, really). Need to go back to Shark's hockey that won a President's Cup.
Also, there were times that they actually looked asleep. Not getting to the puck. Watch from afar. It's unreal. There were times yesterday they looked really good, but there was a vast majority of the time where they didn't.
We went over 171 minutes without scoring. Longest ever. That's insane.

Yea, I just still think the chemistry isn't there from all the guys returning, Game 2 looked way better than game 1. Game 3 will look better than game 2.
Yea at times on defense they just stood n' looked, not moving their legs, but a few of those shifts they were dead tired, and had problems just clearing the zone. As long as they take that extra bit of effort to get out of the zone I think they'll be better off.
The first powerplay kill was absolutely horrible

I dont like how the Sharks are entering the zone. Their not carrying enough speed, and dumping it in and forchecking isn't getting the job done good enough. Whenever they get the puck to the net there's no one in front to get the rebound.
They need to change da game plan

Yup. Dump n' chase isn't working. Then again, if you watch Jumbo he isn't exactly being the puck controlling pass master he normally is. Some really 'blah' shifts.
Last night I was so angry when all 5 guys stood around the net and stared at the puck on the boards while Anaheim made a change and recovered. IN THE DEFENSIVE ZONE!!!! The whole section I was in went crazy!

I don't even think they are giving the "dump and chase" enough of a chance. They are trying to carry the puck over the blue line way too much under this system....
They need to play simple hockey again.....trying to get too fancy and creative.
Don't even let me get started on how lazy they look out there.
We're trying to play great hockey, when we only need to be good to win against this Anaheim team....

The big problem is when you dump the puck and then half-*** your way to recover it then all you're doing is giving the puck away.
I'm telling you... get in the zone, take tons of shots and be in front of the net. Hiller will break. His rebound control isn't good. We just haven't been able to take advantage because no one is trailing or in front of the net consistently.
Special teams has to be sorted as well. If we can't figure that out it won't matter how many games it takes us to get out of this round.

If I was Todd and coaching the Sharks... there would be a few things to tell them...
#1 Play the body, in Period 2 of Game #2, they scored their first goal on a turn over. Coincidentally, the Sharks played heavy body in that period. So play heavy body on EVERY shift (if sharks dont have the puck, and a duck has it nearby, make him pay) It wears them down, it slows them, it causes turnovers.
#2 Sharks are entering the zone too slow, especially on Power Plays. The blue line keeps getting haggled. Enter fast, and with control (i hate when they pass going across, usually it's too slow, and it gets cleared too fast) I dislike dumping the puck in (when people dont have speed). Sharks keep making the mistake of NOT going hard to the net, they think every powerplay is a set up. Even if you're up on a PowerPlay, and you have speed, take it to the net hard and hope for some bounces/rebounds that trailing Sharks can chop in.
#3 The powerplay sucks, the way to get it going (instead of all these failed/blocked) point shots... is to get it low, and crash the net from the side and/or have a quick shot from the point, low to high. When the puck is high, too many people see it, too many legs and sticks to block it. If you want a high point shot, then go from low to high (one time the puck) so the ducks aren't reacting as fast. IMO it's better to have the puck near the icing line and crash the side of the net (more people there, ducks closing from the top) better chance of the puck getting hit toward the net. (I'd even consider backing in like a basketball player posts up). The Puck HAS to reach the front of the net, the referees would pay attention more about the hassling in front of the net, sharks get more opportunities .
#4 Clear the ZONE. Failing to clear the zone (especially with a Gitslaf line out there) is the ABSOLUTE worst thing you can do. Sharks failed a few times to just chip it out and it's lead to goals. Sharks need to take that extra effort, or extra step to clear more toward the middle (boards are obviously taken away EVERY time). Or make a quick pass to a team mate who has a better angle or more time to flip the puck out.

I hope Joe Thorton gets into a fight early on in Game3. His "Obama" calmness isn't doing it. He has to show he hates losing, and show some emotion to lead his team, he can't just keep sayin "We doin' alright, just end up on the wrong side of the scoreboard" crap. He needs to fight and show it on the ice.
