Let me know when you're around. I'd like to catch up and that's about 8 minutes from my house.

Just for reference... I live a block from my folks place. Next street over.

3 bald white guys, in their maybe 40s driving by on the 4th flipped me off. I was walking down the street with Riya. I was a bit taken back. Haven't had anything racist happen to me in a long time.

I then shrugged and walked to the fireworks shack, got some stuff and lit up the street.

Merica!

He wasn't paying attention when it came time to talk about Newton's 3rd law in school...

Something doesn't add up. Mortars don't impart a lot of force into whatever they're standing on. There must have been a problem with that particular firework. Or it was loaded wrong.

Bummer.

Bummer.
Newton's 3rd Law:

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

When you put one of those into the mortar tube, and light it, it fills the tube with lots of hot gas, and much of it putting a lot of force into the ground below. I can totally see his head getting a ton of force/shock wave from the mortar. I didn't light any this year, but they leave marks on the road don't they?

They might leave burn marks but that's it. It's not going to get embedded into the ground.

It's thrust. The tube isn't being used for launch just guidance. There will be a little bit of pressure as it begins to take off. But as it pulled away, the pressure will dissipate.

The tube is cardboard and plastic, it's pretty far from a high pressure barrel.

It's a rocket, not a bullet.

The ground is more solid than a head, right? I think the amount of pressure the mortar applies is probably a lot.

Maybe it's a freak accident and it exploded?
