Just cutting the coils on an already slammed car will just serve to ruin the functionality of the car.
Megan Racing is considered to be VERY low quality as it is, so I doubt you will be happy with the car if you do this.

If I laser cut that, will I still be able to get the ride height I want?

Any input would be appreciated.

It's almost 2011 and we're still talking about cutting springs to lower vehicles?!

This. Quit ghetto rigging it and sell the Megans if they aren't low enough for you.

I don't think hes talking about the spring, but the shock cover, or at least thats what I think it is. when you lower it enough it sticks out the bottom near where it mounts to the hub. this might be even dumber. just get BCs as Im pretty sure most slammed guys are on those. they arnt much more than megans either.

But not just regular cut, as long as you cut it with a "LASER" its all good.
Apparently.

Thanks for stealing my thunder. Although your post is a bit better than my post and sadly my post is not your post but luckily both of our posts are now diamonds.

Cutting coils = bad

A coil is designed to give X spring rate along Y travel. Now what this means is when you cut a coil off, especialy at the top/bottom, you are reducing the rate it supports, and in doing such changing how it rebounds.

This in turn puts the strain of every bump into the arms and strut, and transfers that into the body of the car. Overall you are talking about the posiblity of cracking body parts (such as the strut mounts), Wearing out bushings 10x faster, and even the posiblity of snapping an arm in half (did that once back in the 80's on a nissan truck).

If you want to go for "LOW" you need to think out the way you do it. You need to buy the right parts that will let you drop it, and at the same time keep the motion of the suspention in the same plane.

*NINJA EDIT* I see PHO gave you the right info first, that will teach my old *** to read a thread before I post. :P
