no your sockets last quite a while.
When I was at the station we had to do it quite often. I was there for over a year and I only remember braking one socket.

actually it's been decades that people have been saying these lugs are no good because they're not meant to be reused. AI has some good splineguard lugs for really cheap... I think last time I checked it was about $1.50 or $2.00 a lug plus $4 or $5 for the key.
you can either take it down to a tire shop and have the lugs ripped off, or you can hammer a socket onto the lugs and take them off with a breaker bar...

...and i understand that fact, but from the manufacturer's perspective, how will they know for sure? like i said, i'm playing devil's advocate here. to use an analogy, i'm sure every subaru that gets brought in for warranty work claims that the car has been in stock form, with no modding. who would bring a damaged product/good to the manufacturer and fess up?
i might be a bit paranoid, but why would the manufacturer warranty a claim when they don't know who used it and how they used it? since you're into stereos yourself, you know that manufacturers (like JL, diamond, etc) have a shorter warranty period if the equipment was installed by the owner rather than the authorized shop...

Bump for reference to anyone that may run into this problem
The size10 Bolt Out remover from Craftsman took off the kyokugen/gorilla splinedrive & 7 sided lugs like a joke. A little wd-40, breaker bar and the corresdonding socket to fit the size 11 remover and presto. It's a great investment!

Well i finally got the stubborn bastards off and wanted to bump this thread incase anyone happened to have the same problem as myself.
Anyway, I used the #10bolt off tool from craftsman, and a mallet to drive it onto each lug. It eats them off like nothing but you'll need a vice or something similar to get the old lug out of the #10 tool with a punch.
Other than that here's a picture collage of what i did because im too lazy to write it all out. You can basically figure out how to do it with the pics.

The first two pics are pretty straight forward. The last pic compares the two Rays Duralug keys (6sided socket and their 7sided locking key) on the left to the flimsy POS "butter alloy" kyokugen socket to the right.
Notice how beefy the rays are...
